I was reading on line recently and Harry Potter VII is to be split in half with each half released per year. A friend of mine told me this was there was so much in the book which is why.

Yeah the book had too many important events which would be a shame if it all gets cut out...

Hoping they'd be able to pull it off like the book, I yet need to watch HP VI which I heard was very good (opposite to my expectation)...

This is very old news. I mean, pictures have already been released. People who read the book will probably recognize these:

Haven't read the book yet but I feel this movie's gonna be exciting, despite it being old news. Besides, I believe filming's almost done for both parts?

Read at your own risk.
I looked at these, and I've already seen discrepancies from the freaking book. Burying Dobby takes place in the middle of the night, and Hermione transfigures Ron inside Shell Cottage, which is Bill and Fleurs house.

Dudes, please edit your posts and use [SPOILER] tags, if I hadn't read the book I'd be really mad right now, and there are people who don't like reading the books and want to just follow the movies...

^ Oops! Knew I forgot something

Anyway, here's a little bit more about the "two films idea" by David Yates director of Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince

"Years ago, we briefly — and seriously — considered doing Goblet of Fire as two films. So this concept is not altogether new. As for Deathly Hallows, I intuited — almost from the first moments I began reading it and certainly once I'd finished — that to realize the story in a single film was going to be a tall order. Others in 'the group' felt similarly. So the idea of two films began to get kicked around as early as late summer of 2007. We didn't take it lightly. But ultimately everyone felt that despite the challenges it would present, it was the most sound creative decision.
I'm sure some will think we're crazy. My wife looked at me cross-eyed when I first mentioned it. But I'm really excited about it because it should allow us to stretch a bit with the characters and give them the proper send-off. The story is highly emotional and those moments deserve time to breathe. And, personally, I feel we owe it to Jo — in order to preserve the integrity of the work — and the fans — for their loyalty all these years — to give them the best and most complete experience possible."

I personally can't wait. I haven't seen HBP yet, but I'll be on the edge of my seat during all three of the last installments of Harry's story. I'ver read the damn books so many times i can tell what is wrong and what is right in them.

Honestly the whole reasoning behind this release is simple. Warner Brothers wantes to make as money off the franchise as the possibly can. I mean instead of releasing a single 3 hour or so movie (they did it for the first 2) they split it into 2, giving it 2 release dates, and therefore milking as much money as possible from the franchise.

I mean I can't blame them, but that's really the only reason it's getting a 2 picture release

Erik10101
07-23-2009, 03:22 PM
^ The amount of money earned with two movies isn't really a big factor.

I mean, they're adding about 90 minutes of footage!

According to a Warner Bros. Executive,

Deathly Hallows is so rich, the story so dense and there is so much that is resolved that, after discussing it with [Rowling], we came to the conclusion that two parts were needed.

And also, there won't be any major cuts in characters and scenes, which is pretty awesome.

So, anyway, for those who read the book, how do you think the two movies will be split? Remember to put spoiler tags

lol at the filename - happypotter?

Anyway, cool poster, but why is the film referred to as HP7? That's incorrect, as Deathly Hallows part 2 will be the eighth film.

Mr. Gold
07-03-2010, 09:33 AM
Why would part 2 be considered as an eighth film to the franchise? The reason why the poster is named HP7 'cos it's the seventh and final full film of the franchise and seeing as they are both split into 2 parts, both parts are considered 1 film. If part 2 were to be the 8th film, then JK Rowling would've split the book itself into two parts. :p

Digifiend
07-03-2010, 09:39 AM
Past precedent. Star Wars episodes 5 and 6 are one continuous story, it's considered two films. Multi-part TV episodes aren't considered to be one episode either. RPM's Danger and Destiny was two episodes, not one. Just because Deathly Hallows was one book, doesn't mean that part 2 isn't a separate film. They usually are considered separate. Eight films, seven books.

DarkBlaze
07-03-2010, 10:50 AM
That's why it's called a teaser poster. :p

Mr. Blue
07-03-2010, 12:33 PM
Digi: The reason why we have 2 parts is that they want to include everything from the 7 book without leaving anything out.

Mr. Silver
07-03-2010, 12:48 PM
If part 2 were to be the 8th film, then JK Rowling would've split the book itself into two parts.

Not necessarily. Being the final book, Rowling had to tie up all of the loose ends and bring closure to everything that has been started in the first six books. The powers that be decided(whether it be for money, for fans or a combo of both) that there was no way that everything in Book 7 would be able to seamlessly fit into one movie, so they split it into two, something Blue just recently touched on.

how is it less than accurate? it is more than likely when it comes out on DVD both parts will be put together thus eliminating that 8th film you are talking about.

In the giant boxset that has all the movies it might be but I Highly doubt they'd hold back a dvd release for a year and 1/2 just to release both parts on 1 dvd

The average life span of a woman these days is close to 80 years. This means she still has 35 years to go and write stuff. That's not old. Christopher Lee is old (not that he has anything to do with Harry Potter): almost twice as old as Rowling and not even _he_ has stopped working.

No 3D for Part 1

http://movies.ign.com/articles/112/1126800p1.html

Warner Bros. has decided against releasing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I in 3D after all.

In a statement released today, Warners announced it would release Part I only in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters. The studio said it simply wouldn't have Deathly Hallows converted to 3D in time for its November 19, 2010 release date.

Warners said, "Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate Harry Potter experience.

Producer David Heyman said, "For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling's books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment."

Director David Yates continued, "This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first."

The studio promised, though, that the final installment of the film franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, will still open as scheduled July 15, 2011 in conventional and IMAX theaters in both 2D and 3D formats.

saw it last night with the cousin....very dark and creepy. didnt get to see the main villain a whole lot with the exception of flashbacks here and there but it was well worth it. might i add, Emma Watson is hot as hell

Not the best HP movie, but was pretty good. There were parts of the movie that were very slow, but it makes sense because they plan on splitting the final book into two movies. I agree with FG, that scene definitely stood out. The one thing that I loved about the movie is the character development in the three primary characters. It was awesome to see them apply their magic in actual real life scenarios. The movie was very dark and the overall story was great.

Saw it earlier this evening, really enjoyed it, thought the end was a natural ending for the 1st half of the films. As others have said the locket scene did stand out, as a did the scene where Bellatrix is torturing Hermione, I think Emma Watson is probably the best of actor of the 3 main ones.

Well I learned that the hard way when me and my boyfriend went to see it yesterday. The theater was packed! We were going to sit in the back, there were two seats, but someone was saving them. How rude! So we had to sit way up front. Man my ears still hurt. But it was a great movie, long but great. (three hours) :)

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thought the movie was good, not great. Most of my friends said the movie was the best, but I wasn't feeling it. Then again, I didn't read the books. Part 2 will most likely be an epic event.

I can agree with the comments on Emma's acting. She did a fine job in her various scenes.

Epic isn't the word to describe it...though I think this serves as a good part 1 I think when both are on dvd you'll have to watch them back to back to get the full experience.

For me the camping scenes slowed the movie's pace down...that's my only thing I had a "problem" with

I guess I had higher expectations for the movie than I should have. I still rank it higher than Goblet of Fire. They've still got a lot explaining left for Part 2. Guess its a good thing it's only the last 1/3 of the book.

I went with my 3 cousins (14, 12 and 9) my best friend and her brother tonight. I thought i was great. *** was incredibly dark thats for sure scaredmy cuz occasionally lol. Emma watson is oh man :) lol. I liked the movie and cant wait for the other part. Kinda sad though since it is my childhood and it all started in 2001. Wow so long ago!

Goblet of fire was ok but it just had to connect it the 7th book really. All that happened was dumbledore died, found a horucrux, and the school got raided.

Saw it a couple of hours ago. Overall, pretty satisfying conclusion though I think they should have hired adult actors to play adult Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco because they looked more like older siblings than parents.

@Mr. CD
You do realise that Dan, Rupert, Emma and Tom are adults? Emma's the youngest at 19. That's why they were able to just use aging makeup. Anyway, they're meant to be what, 30-something in the epilogue? They didn't need a recast.

The reason he didnt use adult actors is because the director thought they should do it since they have played those roles for 10 years. I havent seen it but im excited. Seeing it next week.

Beautiful movie! I would say this was the best film in the series. I only read the Deathly Hallows book and this film did a fine job on portraying the book version. Unlike the previous movie (Deathly Hallows, Part 1), this movie took advantage of every minute for story development.

I saw this movie while I was away, and I must say...this movie is about as overrated as a movie can get. It was a good movie, but it really wasn't that good. I know that makes no sense, but that's about how I feel. I probably shouldn't have raised my expectations for it after seeing the critics praise it to no end, but I really didn't think it was anything spectacular. Most certainly not worth the craze it's receiving or the 97% Rotten Tomatoes has given it.

That being said though, it was still a great series and a great 10 years. Great work by everyone involved.

Fury Diamond
07-19-2011, 11:43 AM
I do agree with White. HP7 was the only book that I read in the series and I actually thought the book felt more "epic" than the film version. The film did a fine job on portraying the book version, but Voldemort's demise felt rushed. IMO, Longbottom's scenes (speech and final horcrux) were more dramatic.

ForeverGreen
07-19-2011, 12:18 PM
The book more Epic? The book was so lame it was Voldemort shoots a AK at Harry then a big flash and it's over.

Fury Diamond
07-19-2011, 02:38 PM
It's been awhile since I read the book. I must be confused with the scene when Harry dies and sees his parents, Sirius, and Remus. I thought it was something like their spirits helped out. Either way, his fall could've had more into it. Possibly brief flashbacks of all of his forms or the people that he killed.
