Well. The Twins were once again awesome. I've gotten completely used to their behavior, unlike the Colonel.

Poor Ziggy can never get a break, he only wants to hear good news D: IS THAT SO BAD? Tenaya was still annoying as ever, and I find it ironic that Dillon is spazzing about his sister, but Tenaya never leaves Venjix's lair. Of course you wouldn't find your sister, if whut we're all thinking is true, YOU'VE BEEN FIGHTING HER ALL THIS TIME. FAIL, DILLON, FAIL.

Cool Rangers don't look at explosions. Trufax.

So, I was barely watching the fights with the Grinders. So the episode went by really quick. But uh... Wtf was that ending? I mean, one second Dillon is all, "OMG MY SISTER SISTER SI--SUMMMMMMER--MY SISTEEEEEEER." I just... Summer/Dillon seems waaaaaaaaaaay too forced, imho. Instead of being sucked in by the almost kiss, I was getting slightly weirded out. Romance... just doesn't seem to work for this season.

But uh... YAY JUMBODOOMSDAYWHALE 8D Onwards to the next episode!

The Jumbowwhale doomsday machine was well done, and hopefully Gem and Gemma will calm down a bit more within the coming episodes, Dillon and Summer seems forced like Terrierlee said, but overall another great episode, i give it a four out of five, still Awesome though!!!!

K and Ziggy are delightfully childish in their courtship. Summer and Dillon... It screams WANGST. OH MYSTERIOUS BAD BOY, OH NAIVE RICH GIRL, ETC. These characters have literally no chemistry. It's plotting by numbers. Summer is like a less interesting Lily. That's like ordering your oatmeal EXTRA BLAND. Dillon and Scott have a much better chemistry than Dillon and Summer.

It also amuses me the final words of Eddie's PR are "my sister." Chip couldn't have inherited the show at a more opportune time. Basically all of the mysterious elements Eddie was laying groundwork for in the entire first half of the season were tied off, leaving only Tenaya to deal with. Roll out the Paleomax fleet, and that's it for footage obligations driving the toys. It's NOTHING BUT GRAVY for the last thirteen episodes (plus one).

ACK! You mean they found an extra recording device???? (Or, simply found a way to not be lazy about this?)

Let's just hope it wasn't a one-week wonder. (It shouldn't be, but these affiliates are hard to read ... especially this one)

Thanks, Cmdr. I'm off to the PROAC chart to remove the yellow!

Just checked the Zap 2 it listings. They have it as well. So, this was planned in advance and not just some last-minute, lookee-what-we-can-do thing.

Just so it doesnt get underpinned, this episode was written by Matthew Negrete who also wrote the excellent "Doctor K", meaning this was Eddie's last episode as producer, and Matt's last episode since he bailed with Eddie alongside Paxon.

His last two eps give the impression he's a no-nonsense writer, all the fun and cheese of Eddie's episodes balanced with dramatical gravitas are often absent from Matthew's episodes because of the urgency attached to the mission statements. Goofy characters suddenly grow up or grow balls until things are wrapped neatly in a bun. Fun and games are left behind. You can't do that every week in PR for obvious audience-related reasons, but Eddie knew when and where to use people like Matt. I'll definatly miss his work on P.R

She got to murder a human being on-screen, that's a pretty good way to cement a long career on PR

Ranger Yellow is underrated anyway.

This episode was awesome

The fact of they have to choise or destroy the factory with the persons there or nor, or just sacrifice them
Flinn moment when he speak about Good vs Evil really cool
Rangers battles aganst the Grinders with the soldiers even Coronel Trumam fight really cool with laser weapons
Rangers battle the New Sawbor i liked a lot of them, this new version
Tenaya 7 reports to Venjix and Venjix always with something in is hand to play in the last moment, in xpecia that part Venjix goes and tell "Its time to end this"
We see Gold and Silver morphing sequence finally
The new megazord configuration with Gold and Silver Zords really cool i liked
Dillon and Summer moment in the factory, Dillon decides to almost sacrifice to Summer life, and we have almost a kiss between them
and finaly they find another clue to Dillon past and Dillon sister

This as the last episode of Eddie, well now is time to Judd Lynn

-Ziggys still trying....

-Flynn showed that he cared about the other prisoners, and not just Dillons sister.

-Gems face when he detonated the bomb was hilarious.

-The soldiers were awesome, with their laser guns..reminded me of In Space and Lost Galaxy kind of. So was the soldier who caught the walkie talkie.

-Gem and Gemmas own instructions huh? Why are they only "Smart/Serious" when they talk to doctor K!? Wow..

-I got MMPR:The Movie vibes when they fought in the factory for some reason.

-Apparently Venjix's ship was at the shop so he couldn't leave.

-This is the first time in a while, where I've seen a Ranger auto demorph due to battle damage.

-Wow...giving it to Dillon. I didn't think the series would ever be so mature in a Disney season when handling a situation like this.

-Gema and Gemma just being cool> Beavis and Butthead Gem and Gemma..but what was with the random echoing lol?

-Lol why a Whale? The whale is my favourite zord so far.

-New Megazord formation. Reminds me of a Gundam.

-The Zord saves us from Romance...awesome.

Awesome episode. I enjoyed it. Lets hope the next ones will be good.

I thought this weeks episode was awesome!

The conversation they had about having to choose between the prisoners survival or the survival of the last human city was very dark in a way, it's an age old question.

Gem and Gemma morphing! Yay!

"But why a whale? They can't even fly!" Ziggy's comment had me laughing.

I guess I'm the only one on this thread who likes Dillon/Summer? I get that it's predictable and all but I can't help but love it. I was grinning like a fool at their last scene, knowing that they wouldn't actually kiss (it's obviously not going to happen until the end of the season - that is if Judd Lynn decides to run with it) yet I still couldn't help getting excited. I'm quite pathetic that way hehe.

3 things.

1. I SO saw the reprogramming thing coming.

2. Dillon and Summer almost kissed. Damn Gem and Gemma for interrupting...twice.

3. Ziggy's comment about the flying whale? While it's true whales don't fly, neither do Sharks (Ziggy), Wolfs (Dillon) or Bears (Summer), so Ziggy really didn't think about that.

Oh and unless I missed it before, it was about time that we got to see Gem and Gemma morph.

Great episode, well worth the wait. I liked the serious tone, and choice between saving a few lives versus many. I liked the change in Gem and Gemma's attitude at the end. While I'm not opposed or against the Summer/Dillion pairing, I do feel the romance was forced in this episode. But, having Gold and Silver douse them with water was perfect. Lastly, the key to Dillion's sister, having highlighted one prisoner for a lengthier amount of time, it might be a hint that she was his sister. Just a thought.

Pft, Ziggy and Flynn have more chemistry than Summer and Dillon. I mean, every time Summer and Dillon are in a scene together, I'm just getting ready for...awkwardness. The near kiss extremely so. At least when it happened in Time Force, it wasn't.

You know, for a second, I almost typo'd Summer's name as Lily again. Jeez, this is becoming a habit.

14 episodes to deal with Tenaya 7. So 1 character and that's it. Won't need all 14 for that.

14 episodes to end the season and series as a whole.

What a perfect time for Judd to take over.

The Eddie Guzelian "era" has come to an end with this episode. While it wasn't as good as "Prisoners" IMO, it was still a very solid addition to RPM.

The episode starts out with a nice briefing on the "Doomsday Bot's" capabilities. It's got room for Venjix Drones, a shield disruptor, and some big lasers. I wonder why Venjix didn't just nuke Corinth already if that's all it took. Still, it was nice to see the Colonel and some of his troops being included, as well as for Dr. K to raise the terrifying point that Venjix can always build more of these Doomsday Bots. Ziggy was his usual cheerful and optimistic self, not getting the point about how dire the situation was. It was consistent characterization but again I think they took it a little too far. Still, Ziggy looked like a model of intelligence and restraint next to Gem and Gemma.

Venjix is back in his robotic body, which strangely didn't appear in "Prisoners." He claims that the Sawbot from the last episode intentionally lost and was only gathering data, which was a decent explanation for how easy it went down. The Generation 16 version is unveiled, and similarly talked up to be the ultimate threat. It also fails to live up to the hype, as seen later in the episode.

The Rangers and the military prepare their attack on the factory. It was good that the episode brought up the ethical dilemma of possibly having to blow up the civilians in order to stop the Doomsday Bot. The characters shy away from answering the question (Flynn says that much himself), but that's understandable.

The new Sawbot attacks with some Grinders. It was good to see the army guys getting some action alongside the Rangers. Even with the MOTD beating down on the 5 core Rangers, Gem and Gemma held back from morphing for no explicable reason. I think the "real life" explanation was to give the actors face time, as they gleefully pulled out the explosive charges to use in the battle. The two characters' portrayals are still stupid.

The seven Rangers go into the factory. Flynn and Ziggy look for the prisoners, while Scott, Summer, and Dillon set the bombs. Gem and Gemma run off on a "secret mission" from Dr. K, which I found strange given their stated enthusiasm for blowing things up. They were the ones who first suggested destroying the factory in "Prisoners," an episode in which they were making plastic explosives and planning their own secret mission apart from Dr. K.

Here is where I think the episode slightly stumbled. The Sawbot attacks Scott, Summer, and Dillon again. The action scene is a little hard to see, but is overall well done. The problem is that it goes on for a while, meaning that all the other Rangers' screen time got shafted. We never saw Flynn and Ziggy racing against time to save the prisoners. The hyped up Sawbot, who previously fought 5 morphed Rangers, is somehow challenged by a lone and demorphed Summer.

Summer gives Dillon the detonator. I guess her intention was to head off any rage and bitterness he might have toward the team if one of them had to do the unthinkable and kill his sister. However, I don't think the crushing guilt of detonating the bombs himself would have been much better. Anyway, Dr. K lets him off the hook by revealing that Gem and Gemma had reprogrammed the Doomsday Bot into the Rangers' new Whale Zord. That seemed a little too easy, but it addresses the earlier point about how the Rangers could possibly deal with future Doomsday Bots. It also helps Dr. K's mastermind image. This was a multi-tiered plan that left her with a number of viable options, in case parts of it failed. Ziggy and Flynn just show up outside with the prisoners, allowing Dillon to blow the factory.

Gem and Gemma (still unmorphed) fight the Sawbot again. They morph and destroy it, driving home how overhyped it was. The monster grows and goes after the city. The episode's last commercial break actually comes after Dr. K and the Rangers wondering how they can possibly stop the Sawbot, which makes no sense since they had just hijacked the much more powerful Doomsday Bot. The show resumes and they just own it with their new Whale Zord.

Dillon and Summer have gone back into the bombed factory looking for his sister. Again, we see the Rangers unmorphed even while in danger. It didn't make sense to me that the two of them were actually talking about dying without even trying to use their powers. The two suddenly try to kiss each other before being rescued and interrupted by Gem and Gemma. This is probably PR's biggest romance in years, which shows how neutered the show is when it comes to love stories. Despite how long they've been carrying on this subplot, Summer and Dillon act more like caring friends most of the time. This forced, aborted kiss would have been their first one. The episode ends with Dillon finding a necklace just like his in the rubble.

"Belly of the Beast" was a good, solid episode that was a bit rushed and action heavy toward the end.

Rating: 7.5/10

This was an awesome episode!! I am definitely gonna miss Eddie's work on the show. He understood what Power Rangers should be and what was missing these last few years. He definitely gave it to us in his first half of RPM and brought the show in a more mature and refreshing direction. I am truly grateful that he was brought along to help finish power rangers instead of it ending with JF. Thank you so much Eddie for executing this season the way u did!!!! Even though I have faith in Judd, i am still a little nervous as to how the rest of the season will turn out.
Hopefully one day Eddie can tell us how he invisioned the end of RPM.

While Eddie's work stands far above what we've gotten from Kalish over the last four years, I don't think he had the best grasp of Power Rangers. A lot of RPM's best stuff comes from its "non-PR" elements, with the characters interacting while unmorphed, or having their backstories shown. The premiere was almost unrecognizable as PR, while the "Ranger _____" series had some really thin PR plots elevated by dramatic writing. Those episodes were good, but the PR-parts seemed almost tacked on.

"Blitz" felt particularly awkward to me; it was done in the format of one of those multiple Sentai-monster using, money saving episodes that we've been getting at least once a season. Except that it had very little Sentai, while using all the monster suits in new NZ footage. All the while having Tenaya 7 complain about how pointless and time wasting the whole thing was. It seemed to me as if Eddie was venting his frustrations with the show's cliched format through the character. Which didn't let him off the hook IMO, because "Blitz" could have easily been written better even while keeping the same format.

Eddie was capable of producing stinkers and mediocre episodes too, such as "Handshake," the first part of "Ranger Yellow," the aforementioned "Blitz," and "Brother's Keeper."

On the other hand, Eddie certainly wasn't terrible at making PR (based solely on the show that we see, ignoring the real-life production problems). While PR is a unique show that needs to be produced and written in a certain way, that certain way has included a lot of repetitive, cliche, toy-commercial crap. PR can and should aspire to a bit more than just its own formula. RPM has been good, and the best season we've had in years. The perfect season IMO would comfortably merge the unique touch that Eddie brought to the show with PR's more traditional elements.

You guess wrong. I think it's nice to see some romance in this series, as the action takes up most of the episodes. Kind of. I liked their two almost kisses, even though the water ruined the moment. XD

I'm warming up to Gem and Gemma. In fact, I think I like them a little. They're good fighters. The actors are getting better at the ending each other's sentences- talking, although sometimes it sounds as if they are starting a new sentence. For example in the end of the episode; Gem: "Oh, you're standing." Gemma: "Right in it now.". Doesn't sound good!
Oh, and when G&G morphed in this episode, I thought they were going to fail! There was this second where they just stood there a half second too long, and then the morphing clip started playing. Did anyone else notice that? xD

This will be a long review, So Brace yourselves.
Eddie Guzelian was hired to take on a tough and demanding task, Adapt Engine Sentai Go-Onger and make it viewable for an American Audience. When Eddie got the job he went back and watched the previous episodes of Power Rangers to get him ready for the job ahead. Disney wanted him to make PR work for an older audience. In order to do that, He needed to not slave himself to the Go-Onger footage, He needed to do something big. Because it was PR's final season. Eddie got the idea of setting RPM in a post-apocalyptic future after a computer virus has decimated all of Earth. And the last remaining humans fled to a domed city called Cornith. The problem was that Disney didn't have the budget to give Eddie to do a storyline like this. Instead Eddie told Disney that he could do everything himself and free up whatever budget he could. Things were about to get ugly behind the scenes as Eddie started doing everyone else's job. He was overseeing the ADR, He was overseeing a lot of the production side stuff, And things started to get behind. Disney didn't like that. Eddie was burning through most of the budget and he was missing his deadlines for script submissions. Disney had enough and fired Eddie after episode 18. They gave the Executive Producer spot to Judd Lynn. Eddie was ballsy enough to fight the powers at be at Disney to give us a good season of Power Rangers after 3 years of crap. But he got too far ahead of himself. Anyway, This episode was great. I enjoyed the fact that Summer and Dillion almost kissed. Looking forward to seeing if Judd will further their relationship. I give Belly of the Beast a 4/5. Decent episode. I will miss you Eddie Guzelian. Bring it on Judd Lynn!

This was a pretty good episode. It seemed like there was a lot of information and action flying at us at the same time. Dr. K must be really smart to have Gem and Gemma just be able to insert a microchip and reprogram the machine like that.

Finally got to see Gem and Gemma morph, although it wasn't as epic as I thought it would be. I like their fighting style as well. I was actually going, "Oh crap" when the Doomsday device was firing on Corinth, Venjix almost succeeded right there. Goodbye Eddie, Hello Judd Lynn.

Definitely a good episode, fills the void of not having it for 3 weeks. Not much I can say that hasn't already been mentioned. I do have to thank Eddie for a great work on the first half of the season. One thing that made me crack up was the talk between Ziggy and Doc K. "Whales can't fly" "Well would you like me to turn it back into a doomsday attack bot." something like that can't remember the exact lines but it was pretty funny. Dillon and Summer almost kissing was also a funny part. Kissing moment Yay awe man what's with the water. Also the long expected morph with Gem and Gemma was pretty cool. Did anybody else notice at the part when Scott mention to all the prisoners to line up and head in a orderly fashion way into the truck that one girl with black hair looked towards Dillon. Well if not it could just be the lack of sleep and sickness. Alright I gave this a 5 out 5 just cause the fact of missing RPM and that it was Eddie's last episode.

What a way for eddie to bow out. We finally get to see gem and gemma morph, jumbowhale makes an appearence, and i don't think that in that entire episode did they use one piece of sentai footage, appart from repeatables. Did the saw banki ever get an upgrade in go-onger i don't think it did. Dillion and summer get closer and at the end they find a key which is almost the same as dillion's. Those key's have gotta be used for something.

I'm trying to think of a way to put this.

There's a plotting reason people like us think the relationship is contrived and has no chemistry. A reason that will make Dillon/Summer fans happy, because that changed as soon as we swapped EPs. You girls should stop panicking.

Zord combat being the obvious exception. The scene of the Whalezord raining on the factory was doctored Sentai footage for example. Still, that's been par for the course in RPM, where every episode has original combat footage up the wazoo.

What about that shot where the whale is leaving the hangar? I haven't watched Go Onger, but that bit looked like original cg.

That was original CG. There was a corresponding bit in Goonger, but Jumbowhale's hanger was in an airport, which well, doesn't work in RPM. Any shot of the Doombot was original, but the Whalezord was sentai footage. If doctored to match the RPM setting.

I just wanted to make it clear that the megazord battles are really the only major source of sentai series that you'll find in RPM.

The episode was great. I know it's been said so much but it's about time we saw Gem and Gemma's morphing sequence.

I'm a Black Ranger fanboy...but this was relative letdown. Once again Dillon's rashness and Summer's eagerness to help Dillon almost goth them destroyed. It's like in "Blitz" Dillon's memories are in the SatBot yet they destroy the darn thing...then in rather half-a**ed executed idea here we go with hypnotherapy to try to bring his memories to the surface...WHAT!?
Besides that I liked Scott, Flynn, Ziggy and Gem and Gemma in this ep. Nice zord footage and we get to see G&G get helmet sots too! And they get to morph! (actually I could care less about that...)
Thank you Eddie and Matt...thank ou to all of RMP's first half staff. Judd, show {m what you got!
3/5 (Ok)

the only thing I didn't get was constant references to Doombot as a Blimp, he looks much more like a jet then a blimp

Well I don't think that I can say much that hasn't been said already, however I will agree with cmdr creyfish when he said that Ziggy and Doc's courtship being delightfully childish, and somewhat innocent despite certain elements. Dillon and Summer in this episode at least felt like we where being force feed it especially with the aborted kiss.

RPM FINALE:

Dr. K finally calls Ranger Series Green "Ziggy".

THE END.

Oh, and the Rangers fight Venjix at some point in the episode...

I've never understood why everyone has been so worried about seeing the Boom Twins morphing sequence, its not like its old school PR where the morphing sequence wasn't just special effects

Atleast theres no role call.

Luckily I watch it online so I can fast forward past it( because back in the day, it was always the same footage).

finally the two have their morphing sequence... they were less annoying in my mind... scott and ziggy actually grew on me this week while dillon and summer became slightly annoying... flynn is still pretty awesome... i just love ziggy's lines and the twins ability to fight unmorphed against the attackbot and the grinders

I admit that I will miss eddie's work, but the show must go on, but in regaurds to a kiss of any kind between either the alpha couple. Dillon/Summer, or the Beta couple Ziggy/Doctor K I think we'll have to wait for the finale.

- Awesome episode, seeing Jumbowhale was funny because you can clearly tell when he's talking

- Gem and Gemma are f*cking awesome

- Next zord combination is going to be G9, IIRC

Loved the ep but not the ending.

It was rushed. They take control of it so fast after uploading a DNA program into it.
It was anti climactic. Should have been a two part ep.

Should have had a power rangers/doomsday weapon battle first at least.

Maybe tne next ep will be like a part 2 and make up for the ending of this one.

Jumbowhale was an awesome addition and Gem and Gemma played their parts brilliantly once again. This was a great final episode for Eddie!

And of course, there's no denying the cool Dillon/Summer moments that have been getting more and more common as the series progresses :D

I've watched it on YouTube and I thought it was awsome. My most favorite part in the episode is the part where Summer and Dillon almost kiss. I have to admit, I've watched it a few times and I pretty much went from a Ziggy/Summer fan to a Dillon/Summer fan. I think that Dillon and Summer will make a really cute couple, don't you guys think so?

Overall a good and solid episode. Again some interesting new clues about Dillon's past & his sister. I like how a (possible) relationship between Dillon & Summer is developed. Too bad they were interrupted by Gem & Gemma down in the factory/prison just before a kiss might had happend... :innocent:

IMO Gem & Gemma are still a bit annoying. I hope they will get a little bit more serious in a future episode.

Episode was pretty good. Nice original intro for jumbowhale. Like how as the doomsday bot was black and silver jet, it wasn't until Dr. K fully uploaded the "whale DNA" that it actually became the blue and silver jumbowhale. I agree this would of made a nice two parter with the rangers having to fight the doomsday bot, but that would mean original zord footage. Funny when Ziggy asked why a whale, Gem's expression was priceless. When Jumbowhale did his flip and flew off and his mouth opened, just found it funny how he looked as if he was saying yaaay!

They explain why the poor saw bot got beat so easily, he didnt have any data on the new megazord configuration and thats why the others didn't call their zords. "A flying whale!" "Thats something you dont see everyday!" Where did jumbowhale get the water?

Wonder will anything come out of the close up of the last prisoner? If Dillion saw his sister would he even recognize her? Or is he just looking for a blind girl? Or was the last prisoner zoom to show Dillion trying to recognize her but then he was like no not her or was it to show that she is someone important? Oh well let's see where ol Judd takes us.

bobtherandomguy
08-02-2009, 09:07 PM
she's no one important, I'm over 95% sure of that, something I've been thinking about since the episode aired, Corinth just added maybe 50 people to their population, where are they going to be situated exactly

I'd imagine that the Whale Zord would have some kind of water-based coolant flowing through it? I'm guessing the blowhole is used to expel foreign matter from the insides of the Zord/Doomsday Bot and it could expel the coolant?

I just finished watching the eps and i must say i liked it overall. I think Gem and Gemma did a bang up job in this one. I like them for the most part. First i was a little iffy but they grew on me. But i loved the Summer/Dillon parts. Hate on me if you want but i like the pairing. I feel for poor Ziggy though. He really never catches any breaks when it comes to the good dr. But i like the relationship they have. All and all id say the eps was a win for me.
