But because this, along with the other four parts, are my some of my favorite episodes, I'm giving this a five.

When Tommy and Jason were squaring off, Kanji appeared.

It took seeing this episode today to spark the following question:

If Rita had the Dragon coin all this time, why the crap did she wait until Tommy came along to use it? Did she LIKE losing all the times before? When Zordon chose his five, she could've chosen a recipient too and beat the Rangers while they were still green behind the ears.

She needed someone who could fight as well as Jason can. Tommy fits that description.

Excellent episode, though only one thing bugged me. Apparently that green beam of light that first appeared behind Tommy at the beginning of the episode amputated the poor soul standing behind him. Disney needs to watch out for stuff like that when they add special effects.
I loved the addition of Kanji characters.

it's not like Rita wanted to throw everything she had at the teens, figure first off she thought they'd be no trouble...Goldar being the warrior he was in her eyes should have easily defeated the teens...then after that didn't work, she kept hatching new half arsed plans thinking This has got to work, finaly after being defeated so often..she desided to use her trump card..and to comment on the episode alot more Graphics added then needed, that's all there really is to say about that...but at the end "We're Doomed!" was unitentiounaly funny

Not really, no one in Angel Grove (at the time) seemed to come close to Jason and Tommy's skill level

None that we saw. I firmly believe though that there could have been someone. Angel Grove is, don't forget, a city. And the Rangers just so happen to be the ONLY ones that know how to fight? I don't believe it.

Yes, they changed the zord labels. I suppose part 5 will have a green one saying "Green Ranger Dragonzord!" with the dragon coin emblem.

Well the whole green ranger thing ultimately blew up in her face so in retrospect it wasn't much better than her other plans. Maybe she knew their was a possibility something like that would happen.

I was annoyed this morning with the abc commercial it tricked me. A pr commercial was on basically saying rita has gone back in time to fight the ranger bla bla bla it said stay tuned next up MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGER! i got excited then it didnt come on

This episode is awesome and is the start of Green with Evil Saga !!!!

I really liked of this episodes, the new effects are cool this episode and are be use well, i always like the way of Green ranger enter in the Command chamber is teleport is like a Green flame really awesome
The battles between Tommy and the Putties are cool, and see the ways of this things are going this as going in MMPR as awesome, the new way of the name of the Dinozord appears now is cool, maybe that happens to when Dragonzord will happenm when Rita summons the Dragonzord.
The evil laught of Evil Green rangers is always epic and he is one of the most powerfull villan in MMPR S1, and the way of the Green ranger enter inside of the Megazord cockpit as awesome, the effects between Jason and Tommy battle i think dont need to put nothing there.

well now i really interesthing the changes of the Opening when Green ranger will be there in the Opening...

Things that jump out:

* There is absolutely no reason why Tommy lets the Rangers leave for the Command Centre. What's going on there?

* As noted by Linkara, Tommy's Putty fight is the first time we've seen someone whomp Putties in a straight brawl (and solo!).

* Holy crap, Tommy's actually got some FRIENDS who aren't the Rangers. Look, he's talking to some guys before he's ambushed - he DOES have a social life!

* Skull seems to be genuinely offering to carry Kim's books.

* Zordon knows in advance it's Tommy. How? And how does he know his name? Has he been monitoring Tommy thinking "hey, I might want this guy one day"? I bet he was.

Zordon was monitoring all of the descendants of the ranger team Kimberly assembled. His decisions leading right up to Adam, Rocky and Aisha joining were the Timey Wimey ball in action

I was thinking of Wild West Rangers, when Kimberly actually went to the Command Center in the past, setting up a prophecy which led to the late season 2 team. But the Return of the Green Ranger is also a good example of when Zordon could've observed Tommy, since present day Tommy was actually in the past that time. Rangers Back in Time wasn't time travel, it was time manipulation, like Alien Rangers was. Zordon's in a time warp, so he's immune to that and doesn't forget stuff, unlike the rangers who didn't know they were the rangers - and Billy and Kimberly shouldn't have known the other four rangers for that matter, and Tommy shouldn't have known any of the other five.

I keep forgetting how bad the acting was especially Austin St. John. At least Amy could kinda act and the other three would try but Austin just seems like he was reading off cue cards the whole time. Likewise I think JDF spent more time practicing that evil laugh than he did acting

I'll bite the Dinozord tank mode background behind the Rangers when they called on their zords was pretty cool

If Zordon knew who the Green Ranger was from the beginning,why did he have to show them a scan or whatever in part 4 instead of just saying "Hey Rangers that new kid Tommy is the green ranger." It's not like they wouldn't believe him

Why is Billy the only one saying We're Doomed in the notebook esque last shot. Why not have all 5 say it?

I have always thought about that. Maybe Kim and Billy didn't know them. They're just little kids so maybe they just just started talking to each other and started hanging out. If they all got along as teens maybe they got along just the same as pre teens. I mean it's not like when they first met each other it took long for them to become best friends. Kim met Tommy one day and they were already making plans to hang out together. Same thing happened when Kim, Tommy, & Billy met Aisha, Adam, & Rocky.

You could tell that he was a sweetheart a couple of times early on, especially with how nice he was to Kimberly every now and again. Bulk was just a monster LOL!
