As someone who's also from the UK [and who was in a relationship with a girl who was half-Filipino herself], may I say that I'm happy that you're willing to answer questions from us and I hope we don't scare you too much! *laugh*

May I say that I'm a big fan of your character as she's a lot different from the generic genius girl [and may I say that she's also very cute as well!:)] in the way that she acts a lot of the time and as we saw in the opening episode, the way she dresses in that she doesn't conform to how you'd expect a girl genius to dress...

Question-wise, I'd like to ask the following:

1) Did you ever get shown any episodes of "Boukenger" [the Japanese equivalent of Operation Overdrive] before you started work on the series, and if so, what did you think of your Japanese counterpart?
2) I don't know if you've heard of the London MCM Expo (http://www.londonexpo.com), but if you and the other stars of the show were invited to attend and meet the fans of the series, would you attend?

So how does it feel to know that in the Power Rangers universe, the Pink Ranger is usually considered to be the hottest of the female Power Rangers. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think I've seen one ugly one ever...but in the Power Ranger universe the Pink Ranger is supposed to be considered the 'hottie'. (No doubt that tradition continues.) Its kinda of an unwritten rule I guess.

Hello Rhoda, my name is Ron, and I jut wanna say, I absolutely adore your role in Operation Overdrive. I have a question, what was it like training to play such a role as Rose?

Physically, it was really tough training for all the stunts and martial arts - but fun! Training for Rose was more complicated. In some ways I found a few of her qualities similar to my own, but there were other aspects that were a little harder to relate to (ie. child genius!), and I became very anxious in the weeks leading up to day 1 of filming. It all worked out in the end, and I became a lot more comfortable with the whole "ranger thing" n actually grew to really love my character.

I think I answered these questions in my interview on my official fansite www.rhodamontemayor.net but I'll have a go at them again for you!

1. Only at the very beginning, but it got easier as we went along, and by the end Rose had actually become a part of me! :)

2. I really liked some of her wardrobe, and actually ended up taking some of it home! We both had a fascination with ancient greek mythology, and I also love to read, but perhaps slightly different books!...but those are hobbies and interests.....characteristics?....once Rose learned to have fun, we became a little more alike! I've been told that we both have this "sweetness" which has often gotten me out of trouble in the past, especially growing up!....just flash the smile and say "who...me?...never!"...lol

3. I have too many favourite moments in the show, but one of them was definitely filming "Pirate In Pink", Rosie the Bold was just too fun to play with! Didn't really hate anything, apart from those days when it was sooo hot and we had to wear the black OO uniform...oh, and the one time I got slightly sunburnt :sad:

James was absolutely awesome to work with. We got on really well, in fact, we often made each other laugh on set!

Caitlin is such a sweetheart. We hung out on and off set quite a lot, and did lots of girlie stuff together - like shopping!!!

I got on with all of the cast and crew - I couldn't have asked for a nicer team to work with.

I'm not sure if I'm the first Filipina pink ranger, but it feels great to represent the Philippines either way!

They held castings (auditions) in quite a few countries all over the world I heard - I just got a call from my agent one day saying that the producers wanted to see me for the role, and the next thing I know, the sides for the casting were emailed to me for me to learn!

May I say that I'm a big fan of your character as she's a lot different from the generic genius girl [and may I say that she's also very cute as well!:)] in the way that she acts a lot of the time and as we saw in the opening episode, the way she dresses in that she doesn't conform to how you'd expect a girl genius to dress...

Question-wise, I'd like to ask the following:

1) Did you ever get shown any episodes of "Boukenger" [the Japanese equivalent of Operation Overdrive] before you started work on the series, and if so, what did you think of your Japanese counterpart?
2) I don't know if you've heard of the London MCM Expo (http://www.londonexpo.com), but if you and the other stars of the show were invited to attend and meet the fans of the series, would you attend?

During training, we were able to watch clips of Boukenger, which I found very interesting (even though it was hard to understand what was going on as it was all in Japanese!). My very first impression of my Japanese counterpart was that she was very pretty! I was fascinated with how different her character was to the role I was about to portray, which I guess makes sense, since they were written as totally different characters, lol! She seemed to be doing a great job, and came across as a strong, intelligent and cool female, which was exactly what I wanted Rose to be like too...

I would love to go to the London MCM Expo if I was invited...ahem...hint, hint! lol

As an actor, unless you're from a...how can I say?...comfortable background, with no rent or bills to worry about, then it's very common to be doing other jobs (aside acting) in between acting jobs - as you already seem to know....As for me, I'm a qualified dance teacher, and in the past, I've taught and assisted in dance classes at a local dance school. I've also worked front of house in one of London's West End theatres, and when I audtioned for Power Rangers I was actually temping as a receptionist...lucky break, ey?! :)

So how does it feel to know that in the Power Rangers universe, the Pink Ranger is usually considered to be the hottest of the female Power Rangers. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think I've seen one ugly one ever...but in the Power Ranger universe the Pink Ranger is supposed to be considered the 'hottie'. (No doubt that tradition continues.) Its kinda of an unwritten rule I guess.

Also, what are your favorite past times when you aren't acting.

OK, now I'm blushing.....ummm....I was very aware that the most famous pinkie, Kimberly, was adored by many fans, but to be honest with you, I didn't realize there was this unwritten rule about the pink ranger!

In my free time I like to read, my favourite books are fiction and the occassional romantic novel - not girlie at all! Also, I've always been fascinated with ancient greek mythology, like Rose, which I thought was really cool and easy to play - I didn't have to act at all!

As for the American accent....I didn't find it too hard, and I got more and more used to as we went along. We also had a lot of help from the dialect coach on and off set for the odd word here and there...but the accent very quickly began to feel so natural that I now prefer to read scripts in American, lol!....As an actor, I'm very used to being asked to read scripts (at castings) in an american accent, so it's a useful, if not essential, skill to have in this business.

I suppose this is a question most Rangers get asked, do you ever get sick of wearing Pink? I know Rangers in the past have vowed to never wear those colours again, so I hear. I do like that shade of pink by the way, it's purdy.

Pink has always been my favourite colour, so I was thrilled when I found out that Rose was going to be the pink ranger (they didn't tell me what colour she was until they offered me the part).....and I still love the colour...so the answer is no, I didn't ever get sick of wearing pink!...I did however, get frustrated with the OO black uniform - wearing black in the height of summer is not very comfortable (LOL!) so I was very relieved whenever we got to wear our civilian clothes!

I'm not really sure where they hold the auditions...I know it was the first time they actually went to London the year Samuell and I auditioned, and I believe they mentioned also going to India and Latin America, though I don't know which countries they actually went to, and obviously Australia! It's hard to get a foot in the door if you don't already have a professional agent/manager who gets you the castings, so that's where I'd start. The only other suggestion I can make is to send your stuff (photo, resume and show/voice reel) directly to the production office in New Zealand - I think the address can be found on operationoverdrive.net and rhodamontemayor.net

I've answered a couple of your questions already in previous posts, but I will attempt to answer your other questions!...

I only really watched the mighty morphin series (and film), which was when I was growing up. I was also given the chance to see the first couple of episodes of SPD and Mystic force during training, to see how the show has evolved and what to expect.

Meeting the old rangers, or "retro rangers" as we called them on set, was awesome! They were all so lovely, and it was great to hear all their stories of thier own past experiences. They were also good fun on and off set!

I have definitely kept in touch with all the OO team - they have become some of my closest friends, so I hope to always stay in contact.

Thanks for your comment about wanting more focus eps. Yes, it would've been nice, but I'm not complaining - I think there was a nice balance with the main storyline and character arcs, considering we only had 32 episodes to squeeze that into! I'm sure that if we had more time, there would have been more focus episodes to play with!

My next project is a teeny-weeny part in a feature film that a friend of mine has produced/written/starring in called "Adulthood" which is the sequel to his previous film, "Kidulthood" (a gritty urban film focusing on a group of London youths). As I said, it's only a small cameo appearance (no lines) that I agreed to do for my friend Noel Clarke - still in production now.

After that, I'm playing Peter in "Peter Pan" the pantomime (I'm playing a boy!!! LOL!)....which I can see has already been announced on the board! Many thanks for all the congratulations! For those of you unfamiliar with "pantomime"....it's a very British christmas tradition. Take a classic story/fairytale, add some song and dance, a bit of humour and audience interaction and cheese...and voila...you have yourself a pantomime!....It's very similar to the stage shows at Disneyland.

With regards to your letter....I've received a lot of letters and emails, and I try to reply to them as soon as possible. So, I hope you got a reply....if not - it's on it's way! :)

I LOVED being a pirate!...and, yes...I had to be careful with the voice, which I saved for the actual takes. I think I remember being quiet and focused in between takes and during rehersals for that particular episode.

1. Love all the cast members - we al got on really well.
2. No favorites - had a different and unique relationship with each of them.
4. Mainly the overdrive gang (for obvious reasons) and a few of the morphicon staff.
5. It was a real honour to meet the other cast members - they were all so friendly.
6. Like most people, shocked and sad despite not knowing her personally. I'm sure she will be missed very much by all those who knew her and by her adoring fans.

The Power Ranger costume was actually quite uncomfortable, especially at the beginning because they were so new (and stiff!)....my poor feet!
The first scene of One Gets Away was a lot of fun to do....the only problem was that the water was cold!...but apart from that, I really didn't mind going in!

I've had quite a lot of autograph requests, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to send one to everyone yet (sorry!) I think the easiest way to get hold of one is to send a self-addressed envelope with an international postage stamp (from your post office) to my agent in London:

Now that's a great question....

As a young girl, I was always prancing about at home. My big sister and I used to make up our own little shows at home for our parents, and we'd force them to watch us dance and act! So I guess you can say that I've always wanted to perform, but I never took it seriously until about about 11 years ago when I realized that I could turn my hobby into a career...and that's when I auditioned to get into a good performing arts school to study it full time.

1) I'm a trained dancer so I have great rhythm!...and I can sing, but I wouldn't call myself a singer as it isn't my strongest skills (plus I know some really amazing singers!) The two themes were very different, but I like them both. Actually, Koichi made the cast a special dvd with footage from our stunt training, and he used the Boukenger theme music for it - very cool :)

I think someone else already asked me if I've seen any Boukenger (I've seen a little), and I personally think that Sakura and Rose are completely different. Fristly, I have to say that I like the way Sakura was protrayed, I think the actress (who is beautiful btw) did a great job. Apart from the fact that they're both pink, the only other similarities I can see are a couple of qualities they share - like being very calm and collected/"in-control" (most of the time!), and that they're both very smart and seriously intellectual girls!

Hey there,

I get a lot of people asking how to get an audition for Power Rangers....the way I got seen was via my acting agent. What normally happens is the producers (disney, or whoever) use a casting director to find actors who match the character descriptions, and it is usually the casting director who contacts the actors' agents to ask them to come in for a casting. It's difficult to get yourself an audition without having an agent, so my advice is to try and get yourself a good agent, which I know is easier said than done, but it really is the best way....other than that, I guess you could try to send your headshot and cv directly to the production company...

Hope you found that helpful....oh yeah, by the way, both my parents are from the Philippines :)

I made so many mistakes trying to get those long words out (especially when they directed me to say my lines fast!)...sometimes even when I didn't have any difficult words to say! LOL!...so yes, there are lots of bloopers somewhere in the PR archives!
