Well now that Morphicon has come and gone I'm curious what new facts and info did we learn about Power Ranger's history.
Did the panels reveal ideas or storylines that were thought of or never used?

You really are desperate for those monster names aren't you?
Learn how scripts are written, then come back and ask.

I know I'm obsessed with the scripts but I really was interested in other info

Tony Oliver was the one who named the series. The original title of "Dino Rangers" was dropped because they realized that future seasons wouldn't feature Dinosaurs, so Tony just sort of thought aloud until he came up with Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Likewise, they needed to come up with a new name for the Dino Droids as George Lucas had the term Droids, and pretty much anything ending in "-oids" locked up. Tony then suggested making up a new word instead, something like, I dunno, Zords? And Zords it was.
Stewart St. John gave Bulk and Skull the first names of his uncles, Eugene and Farkas.
The main thing is that A) Judd Lynn has a terrible memory for details of stories he's written. B) Tony Oliver's memory is also unreliable when it comes to details. "There was a White Ranger in Zyuranger, right?" C) Ronnie Sperling and Jeff Deckman are amazing and I'll be interviewing them in the near future.
But there wasn't much in the way of gigantic revelations.

What did fan favourite Bruce Kalish have to say?

I don't believe he ended up making it to the convention.

I don't believe this. The Educational Game "Math Blaster" used it.

Have you have heard of the new phone the Motorola Droid X? Because one of the commercials for it makes it crystal clear that Lucasfilm does indeed owns the "Droid" trademark, explaining why the names of the Power Rangers mecha had to changed. The disclaimer is seen from 0:22 to 0:26:

Don't forget about that poor fool who thought he could name his new laser scalpel tool for surgery a 'light saber.'
And Judd Lynn managed to avoid answering "So is RPM in continuity or not?". Although I still think that everyone should go watch his panel once it's online as it was very interesting.

I always feel it is more rewarding to hear the writers and behind the camera staff members talk because they can give greater insight into the show. Not saying hearing actor stories are boring though lol

Jesse and I really did try and play fair by splitting the writer/staff/voice actor panels between ourselves evenly, since the nerds in us were each chomping at the bit to datamine new tidbits.

My guess is the ole' "Bad Memory" excuse kicked in once again.

Tony played Leo in Shell Shocked!
Just the voice correct? Dumb question but I don't think he was ever a suit actor.
And to change subject, I guess we now know why the "Dino Droid" lines didn't make it in the "Lost Episode" broadcast. Great stuff, guys!

After reading this, I spent ten seconds thinking "Leo the Ninja turtle was in "Trouble with Shellshock?""
Then I remembered the TMNT/PRiS Crossover.
Couldn't get Leonardo's voice actor from Next Mutation then?
Wasn't this because Next Mutation was filmed in Canada, and they couldn't afford to pay for the actors to fly over to Cali?

^ Don't feel too bad. At first I thought they were talking about when they dubbed Leo Corbett's voice in the LG/LR crossover. Then, I looked it up and felt like a total doofus.
I mean, it's not far fetched to think that Tony Oliver replaced Danny Slavin's voice in that ep.

So, did the other four get their voice actors revealed as well? I'd guess not, but I still wonder if I'm right about Ezra Weisz voicing Donatello...

Same reason they had problems with the Spider-Man TAS / X-Men TAS crossover.

I sit corrected. :)
EDIT: He was both suit AND voice for WoD? I believe I read David Wald was the Leonardo suit actor in PRIS.

Yes, he was voice and suit actor. He confirmed that at both conventions, and even noted he had SAG problems for having appeared on-camera for it.

I believe it was during the Pretty & Powerful panel that Audri DuBois said something about Trini having a crush on Billy, and them "doing what teenagers do". I was watching that panel on YouTube earlier and thought it was HILARIOUS!

She said that the original plan was for Trini to have a crush on Billy, which was downgraded into her being his translator lol

It would have been interesting to see how it would have played out with Thuy in the role of Trini to have that romantic aspect.

I learned about the true story behind "Buttery."
Every time Matt sees something cool/awesome, he would say "Buttery." And they wanted to introduced that in the show except they needed a good reason why Bridge would say "Buttery" and the kids would get it. So they decided that Bridge would be eating something buttery when he said the line. The food ranged from like corn, a muffin, toast, etc. Matt said to go with buttered toast, so that's how they put Buttery in the show.
Can you imagine instead of toast, it was buttered corn on a cob? And the fact that Bridge wore gloves. That would have been messy. XD
Ashley and Andros did have a kissing scene that was filmed but never made it to the final cut. (what a drag!) A bunch of scenes were filmed from the Turbo movie that focused on the characters never made it into the final cut. Funny stories like gun stories and little kids seeing the Rangers at food stores/stores/libraries.

I got some questions. 1st, on the list of panels I see Tony Oliver's PR Treasure Trove. What kind of stuff did he bring?
2nd, in the pretty and powerful panel posted on youtube, someone asked Tracy Lynn Cruz something about confirming or denying a rumor. I couldn't make out what the guy said that made her so uncomfortable. Does anyone know the whole story, or what I"m talking about?

Some idiot asked her if she feeds off of childrens skulls to stay young (something to that effect)
I know. Dumbest person and question to ever be asked at a convention.

It was something on Ranger Board. Somebody talked about another rumor and some jerk made a BAD JOKE about the skull thing. So some idiot decided to ask her the question like it was some "rumor" while it was only a bad joke someone made in response to the actual rumor I won't repeat. Just an idiot really.

Yea, I get so mad because sometimes all it takes is one or two stupid people to make actors not want to do these conventions again

I'm watching the Morphicon writers panel on YouTube, and I just stumbled across what is, to me, probably the biggest tidbit of that entire convention, and one I can't believe no one has mentioned here yet...
John Fletcher is Mark Litton!
My mind is blown. Really. Litton and Fletcher were two of my favorite PR writers, and to find out they're really one man... Awesome.
Cmdr Crayfish
09-30-2010, 04:00 PM
You never knew that? Jesse mentioned it after he invited him to the convention in the first place on one board or another...
Have we officially solved yet the mystery of Ally Mondera?
Centauroforce

Honestly, I'd never heard of Litton and Fletcher being one and the same before watching the panel.
It does make me wonder why they kept Litton around after Turbo's first half. Almost all of the other writers from the Sloan regime were gone at that point.

I... Actually don't think it's Chip. The more time goes by, the more I ACTUALLY think she's someone else.
