Lavender Ranger has posted some scans of concept designs for Sentai mecha. It's split into two posts, the above link is for the stuff that got adapted for Power Rangers, the other post covers Goranger to Jetman. There's some interesting pictures. Apparently Mega Tigerzord was originally meant to have the green orb on the front of it's chest like Thunder Megazord, rather than on the back. Ape Ninjazord was meant to be more ape like (that probably explains it's look in the movie). Artillatron was originally supposed to be able to combine with the other mecha - so we almost got a Turbo Ultrazord!
I think this one explains why the producers of PR in Space were so surprised Megaranger wasn't a space series:

Space backdrops everywhere. There's a preliminary design for MegaRed (Red Space Ranger) on there as well.
