Dear members of RangerCrew,

I am writing to you on behalf of the entire RangerCrew Moderator team. We, the Moderator team, would like to warn you about a recurring threat that has been circling our forum the last couple of months. Some members have been affected by this threat more than others, but after careful consideration we have decided to take the matter and open it to the public, with everyone’s safety in our best interest.

The team is currently dealing with a group of people who claim to be hackers. Although their intentions are unclear, we think they are trying to ruin the reputation of various members in the Power Rangers fandom, as well as ruin the reputations of popular forums in the Power Rangers fandom, such as; RangerCrew, PRE, RB and PMC Forum.

Although our prime intention was to protect the members of the forum from being thrown into the crossfire, after a recent YouTube video, we have decided to make the news public in order to warn our valued members.

The following YouTube video could possibly be by the hacker, and state untrue claims about members and Moderators of this forum.):

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=66BV5TFM

At this time, we suggest members take the following precautions while we continue the investigation:

-Never share the password of your account. A Moderator will NEVER ask you for your password.
-Never have one password for both your RangerCrew account and your e-mail account.
-If you suspect suspicious activity on the site, please report to a Moderator instead of taking action yourself.
-Be aware they are targeting people on messengers, asking for people’s passwords. If you have made your contact details public, for the time being it might be necassary to remove these details and only give them out to members you trust.

IMPORTANT NOTICE WHEN CHATTING ON MSN MESSENGER:

Those who have MSN messenger, if you get a IM from someone you don't know and asks for your password, DO NOT REPLY! Just BLOCK the IM and report the IM to the MSN service. Do the same on YIM and AIM if you get a message on there too

The Moderator team has been investigating this issue over the last three or four months to keep our members safe, and we expect to get this issue resolved as soon as we can. At first, these people were only targeting one or two members, but now, they have spread to attacking those on other forums. Most of these attacks have been because someone has posted something against them which they don't like. For your own safety, it is best that you keep all lines of communication with these people closed. If they message you on the forums, report them. If they message you outside of the forums, block and report them. Do not talk to these people because they will use anything you say and turn it back against you.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns that pertain to the hacking, please refrain from creating threads about it, and instead send a private message to one of the members of the Moderator staff. To find a list of the entire Moderator staff, scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and click “View Forum Leaders.” Remember everyone, stay safe.
