So in Shinkenger it was Rice Wine basically he was a surly drunk, in Samurai the only acknowledgement was a toss away, almost sarcastic "drink your medicine" line from a MotW

if Samurai is playing things close to the Shinkenger Inomaru so to speak then Megan will be trying to complete the sealing character for Xandred and it hit me.

What if his medicine is the ONLY THING keeping him alive?

That would certainly make a nice way to explain why he resisted the seal and why he is always drinking.

I think opium or heroin.

Xandred is simply a drunk, I've known plenty of people who've referred to alcohol as, "medicine," so nothing changed there...Xandred is a drunk...plain and simple...

I can guarantee that they are trying to eliminate the drunk part. I GUARANTEE it.

In the premiere, he threw a Mook at Dayu and Rofer. He has anger problems, as we can see. He's hostile towards his own subordinates. They shouldn't be fighting each other, but rather, the Rangers. The medicine, as we can see, made him go to sleep. He can't be hostile if he's sleeping. Might as well keep him like that while the others are trying to actually get their jobs done, rather than having their own attacked, even if they are just Mooks.

Or he's in chronic pain and the medicine deals with the edge that causes him to have wild mood swings.

Were that this show was original enough for this to matter, huh?

So basically his subordinates are drugging him...o$r the man suffers from serious 'roid rages...or his little squid doctor guy has convinced him that he suffers from some debilitating illness, and only his specially made medicine can keep him well...or he's a drunk who is miserable in his existence and drinks to escape from the realization his life is pathetic...wait a sec...he had a headache, which means he was hungover and everyone knows the cure to hangovers is to immediately start drinking again...depending on the type of alcohol it could easily change his attidude...whiskey makes him angry, wine keeps him mellow, tequila makes his armor come off (a scary sight I assure you), clear liquors just keep the buzz going, and beer makes him super happy and giddy (so he's obviously not a beer drinker)...all the symptoms easily point out that his medicine is in fact alcohol...he's a drunk...

I mean Nickelodeon shows drop so many allusions to adult themes...keeping crap under the radar so to speak...so a kid may not get the reference but an experienced alcohol consumer can relate.

...and the medicine happens to be made of umpteen percent alcohol.

May be yoghurt or mila. Both sake and milk or yoghurt usually colored white. So the scene when Dokoku/Xandred drinking sake can be dubbed to drinking milk or yoghurt.

Or, you know... it could just be river water. Though with it being the Sanzu River, he'd literally be feeding off the misery of humanity.
