Season Summary:
Bioman was a quantum leap from Dynaman in terms of story-telling, characters, special effects, music, costumes, and sets. Bioman became a hit in the international market, becoming popular in the Philippines, Brazil, and France. In fact, in the Philippines, Filipino fans don't even call Sentai "Sentai" but Bioman. They even called MMPR when it first came out "American Bioman." In France, Bioman did so well that when Maskman and Liveman were brought over, their names were changed to Bioman 2 and Bioman 3 respectively. Bioman was also the first Sentai to have its music composed by Tatsumi Yano, a fan favorite among Sentai fans, often credited for getting the franchise out of the Disco funk composer Michiaki Watanabe left it in, and giving the music a more orchestral sound.

The once prosperous Bio Star is destroyed after a war erupts over the use of a scientific discovery called "Bio Particles". The Bio Star Peacekeeping Alliance, which seeks to use the Bio Particles for peaceful purposes, sends the giant robot Bio Robo and an assistant robot named Peebo in order to prevent the same tragedy from happening on Earth. The Bio Robo arrives in 15th century Japan, where it showers the Bio Particles on five young individuals. Five centuries later, the descendants of these individuals, having inherited the Bio Particles from their ancestors, are chosen by Peebo and Bio Robo to become the Bioman team in order to protect the Earth from the Neo Gear Empire, an organization led by the mad scientist Doctor Man.

Bioman and Denjimon are May's two seasons. Since they are older seasons, not many of you may be aware of their existence or similarities. Both seasons have robot mentors the come from destroyed planets. In both seasons, five individuals who have a connection with said destroyed planet are recruited to become the Senshi/Rangers.


What do you think of the Bioman suits?

Bioman,one of my favorites also!! This seasons has such awsome music,i really love the violins and pianos used in it. The Bioman suits are one of my favorite,they look very robotic yet simple.

wow Bioman...the very first Sentai season I ever watched! It was aired a few years before I was born, but I remember my older cousin had recorded all the eps and I borrowed them from him when I was about 11.
It's been so long since I last watched this season...I don't remember much from it, but I still have a nostalgic feeling about it.

Ι have only seen the first episode. I stopped because it was dubbed in english. I wish there were with japanese sound and english subs. There are many people in Greece who love Bioman, especially older than me (I am 26). They used to rent tapes at 80's with them

I love Bioman. It's a classic in France. They also aired Turboranger but they don't keep the name Bioman anymore.I like the suits but there are not my favorites. The song is awesome. The French Version too.

I love how this is the only season to be officially dubbed in English... still. Am I correct in thinking that the soundtrack wasn't kept though?
I love the Star Wars inspired light sabres as well.

Also, does anyone know why they decided not to have "Sentai" in the name?

by the way, i know why Yellow Four I was killed off because, according to TVTropes-


Yuki Yajima, the actress who played the first Yellow Four left due to some shady circumstances that even today aren't quite clear. Some claim she had a falling out with J.A.C. the stuntworkers union that Sentai hired most of its early actors from, while fellow cast members believe she eloped with someone. Either way the actress hasn't been heard from since then.

Cast was good. Don't exactly know what was up with the first Yellow Four but the second worked well with the group and it was a good transition.

Eh, I wasn't really all that fond of the Bioman cast. Gou and Jun were pretty cool and I like that Mika was different compared to most of the Tokusatsu heroines at the time, but Shingo's actor was pretty bad, Ryuuta was just there and Hikaru... I like her on paper: how she's this completely normal woman thrown into this, initially incapable of fighting, and suffered an illness early on as a child that gave her the strength she needed to take care of others but her actress was pretty weak.

Mika's death is awesome IMO. Too bad they don't show her unmorphed after her death. Anyway i prefer Jun. I really love her. She is a good remplacent. I feel she is more in harmony with the cast

I like peebo expet in one of the first episode where he insult the team because they failed to save his "friends". I found him very annoying.

What did you think of new villain Prince?

I like him. It's always good to see a new face. For now I only saw him as a villain in only 2 episodes. I'm at the episode where BioMen have found are lookalikes who participated in a TV game show ... etc. In any case, he was awesome and he impressed me. He is so cruel and violent. And I really love his fight with Ryuuta. Oh and thanks for the link Mr.CD :)

What did you think of Gou's father, the deaths of the Big Three & Beastnoids, the death of Bio Hunter Silva, and the finale?

RedOne father's story is a bit rushed. I don't remember that RedOne talking about his father before and when he finds him he says he searched him . But otherwise it was interesting. BigThree's death arrive all at once so it's a bit rushed too but it's ok. But Fara's Death is Awesome. I like the final.


Final thoughts on the series? Would you recommend this season to anyone? Why or why not?

It's not the best sentai but not the worst. Anyway it's still one of my favorite season. The cast is ok, the story interisting and some things are unexpected, the villain are good. I recommend it. Too bad they didn't devellop Hikaru & Ryuuta more.

It was a good idea to make the villain stronger, the deaths were pretty good, and it was cool to see the Bioman training for their new finisher.

I hope this is the right place maybe someone can answer this for me. In Bioman is it me or is there something off/odd about farrah cat I can't put my finger on it but maybe it's just me reading too deep into it.(I have the bad habit of doing that with some characters on shows)
