Season Summary
Dai Sentai Goggle-V is the sixth season of Super Sentai. Originally, the series was going to be called Mirai Sentai Miraiman and was going to have a time-travelling theme. Eventually, the time travel aspect was dropped and the name was changed to Dai Sentai GoGo V before it was eventually settled to be Dai Sentai Goggle V. Goggle V is the first Sentai series to be written by Hirohisa Soda, a fan favorite among the Sentai fandom and Sentai's most prolific writer. Often credited for raising the bar on Sentai by creating diverse characters, complex and multi-layer villains that are still fan favorites to this day, and unique and original premises that show off the potential of the franchise, some fans even go as far to say had it not been for Soda's work, the Super Sentai franchise might not have lasted as long as it has. Goggle V is also the last Sentai to use baggy cloth for the suits and the last Sentai to have scarfs. Goggle V is also the last Sentai series to have its music be composed by Michiaki Watanabe, who had been Sentai's composer since Goranger, who then went on to compose for the Metal Heroes franchise.
The Dark Science Empire Death Dark launches its scheme for world conquest from its Wolfborg Castle in Germany. Dr. Hongou, founder of the Future Science Laboratory, is saved from one of their attacks by world class explorer Ken'ichi Akama. Using his Computer Boys & Girls, Hongou recruits five people, including Akama, to form the Great Squadron Goggle-V (Goggle 5), the only force capable of stopping Deathdark.
Kanpei Kuroda, Goggle Black, appears in the Super Sentai 35th anniversary film, Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle, giving the Gokaigers his acceptance in them gaining the Goggle V Keys' Greater Power. The Gokaigers use the Goggle V Keys in episode 8.
