Longer? Nope... Same as last years.
I remember seeing somewhere that Scott was going to be on G4's Attack of the Show promoting the upcoming PMC? Did this air yet, and if so, anyone know where I can see it?
Cmdr Crayfish

No one has told me if the segment aired, and nobody working on PMC has had the free time (or in some cases, G4) to know if it did. Lame.

When I had origianlly asked Scott about it just after the filming, he said it would air 'in a few weeks'. I'm assuming that was what he was told.

I'm still hoping the fiancé and I can go again like we have the first two. Our wedding is next June, so we don't know yet if PMC would be our sole honeymoon location, just part of it, or just a separate trip altogether from that. I know I'd like to go, because I'm the bigger PR fan of the two of us, but there are still a lot of things that need to be figured out (costs, work scheduling, potential guests/events, etc.) before we decide one way or another what to do.

For all intents and purposes, it was mine last year. Some break, huh? :-D
Look forward to seeing you guys if you can swing it.
A new photo is up on Facebook revealing that memberships will go on sale September 23. This may not sound like big news to some, but it's quite possibly the most important news you'll need to know. After the craze for Gold Ranger passes last year, everyone should have this date circled because you best bet they'll set out fast again.
Chris, any plans to announce an exact time the passes will go on sale? Because I don't think announcing "Eh, sometime on the 23rd" will end well. Too many people, like myself, will sit around all day in front of a computer screen waiting for the sale to begin, refreshing every 5 seconds. Hopefully a precise time is announced to save the customers trouble and to avoid any backlash.

We will have an official announcement once sales open over the Facebook and Twitter. The registration company that will be handling the entire process will be prompting us so we can do a formal prompt to the fandom the second it opens.

Hi there, I'm in the UK and I've been saving for the last two years to attend pmc 3 but I cannot find out how to buy tickets/passes I want gold passes obviously also I'm a full time wheelchair user and need a carer with me at all times due to health issues do you think this will be a problem? It's my one chance I'm coming over to the USA purely for Pmc 3 staying for three weeks because I'm not allowed to fly long distances within a three week period and it's a nine hour flight for me gulp! and to hopefully meet my hero Jason david Frank any help any of you can give me would be much appreciated thanks in advance guys.

No, we've had plenty of folks in wheelchairs at the past conventions. Just flag one of us staffing the room and we'll make sure you get preferential seating for yourself and any nurses or aids you might have with your party. We have tried to do the same for vision-and-hearing-impaired attendees as well. While that is easier still with Gold members (we literally just put them in the very first row), we will gladly do this for any attendee with needs.
International sales are quite common. We've had people from all across the globe at both prior Morphicons, and the registration process will work just fine. When the tickets go on sale (September 23rd 2011) we will be announcing it all over the fandom with the web address. With only 200 Gold Ranger memberships available I would recommend you do so as quickly as possible, but I couldn't say how long they'll sell out this year. They went in under 36 hours last time, which none of us had expected. And I do empathize with you on the flight; one of our senior staff lives in the UK and I do not envy her the duration of travel time she has. Particularly when she has to get right to work upon arrival.
I hope this can provide you with what you need. I'm happy to answer anything else you are wondering about, here or on our own PMC message board. And please enjoy your stay in Pasadena! It's a lovely part of the country near a bunch of places with lots of things to do.

Don't worry about it Arran, like Chris says, just give one of us a wave and we'll sort out the seating, etc.
9 hour flight from the UK? You coming on the Concorde? :p I flew in from Manchester (UK) and the flight was 14 hours! Also, jet-lag doesn't have quite as big an effect on you when going west, it's going east where it messes with you, so you shouldn't be too bad when you land in LA.

"For the main A panel room there will be 200 seats that will numbered to match your gold ranger number. You will always have your seat in that room for regular events."
Is this assigned seating per ticket?

Thanks for the confirm. Fans will definitely want to get the Gold Ranger pass as early as possible.
Gold Ranger passes get to get in 1 hour early! Wow, that alone makes it worth it.
Although not sure if I'm liking this "numbered seat" thing. This means the guy who gets the front row middle seat and the guy who gets the 7th row, far left seat both pay the same price? And there's not a damn thing the guy on the far left can do about it? It should be first come, first serve. Reserve 200 Gold Ranger seats, but drop this whole numbered thing. That way there is still a seat for every Gold Ranger pass holder, and no one has to be clamped down to the same seat for the entire weekend.
If I get the seat all the way to left and in the back, it should be my fault, because I didn't show up sooner. Not because my name was entered into a random generator and ended up being #196, when I paid the same price as the guy who got an up front number. Hopefully you guys take this into account.
Cmdr Crayfish
08-31-2011, 07:28 PM
It works on the same principle: first come, first served. The fact is, the front rows are the best seats in the house. Even the "worst" of those is still pretty awesome.

Not bad prices at all. Red Ranger passes that get you in the whole weekend for $65 is a steal.

I know i am getting gold ranger pass . It has alot of perks , and i am really happy and exitced to be going to PMC 3 next year ....
Something dawned on me today, and it is again, in regards to this numbered seating thing.
When I go to PMC, I usually meet a friend there, as well as FD and his family. We sit together when possible when we go to the same panels. However, with this numbered seating thing, how am I going to be able to do that? If I buy my Gold Ranger pass, my friend buys his Gold pass, and FD buys his all at separate times, we're going to be clamped down to seats at different corners of the room. And I'm sure other groups of friends will separated as well. How is this problem going to be solved?
The way I see it, this numbered seating idea has to go. I see no benefits from having numbered seating as opposed to just closing off the front 200 seats and making it a first come, first serve to the panel. Let people pick out their seats like a movie theater. Close off the front 200 seats with a rope at the last row, and have someone stand there checking Gold passes before you can cross into the front rows. But I see no benefits from this numbered seating. People had enough complaints about the last PMC, and this is only going to make everything more problematic. If people have to split their group up because they showed up too late to the panel, that's their fault. But I shouldn't be separated from people I want to sit with because "this is my seat, that's your only seat, and you'll like it!".

We would to synchronize when we buy the tickets. :). I agree that the gold area should be reserved for the passes and allow the first come first serve for the panel to choose the seats. If someone decides not to attend the panel, the assigned seats would go to waste.
We would to synchronize when we buy the tickets. :).
We could do that, but that's just extra hassle I don't want to deal with, and other groups won't want to either. And for the price I'm paying, I should not have to do extra labor just to sit next to a friend. Someone needs to explain the reasoning behind this numbered seat thing, because I fail to see any benefits. And this is coming from a loyal PMC fan. Like I said, I'll always support PMC, but its reputation was really damaged after the last one. This numbered seating idea is not going to do anything to help anyone's case.

Eh, a bunch of things that led people to walk away unhappy. If you go on some other forums, you'll see people moaning and groaning. Although I don't agree with their complaints, there are quite a number of people who left the last one a little ticked off.

Not quite sure what ticked other fans off, but I had a blast at both events. My only complaint was the lack of an "intro ceremony". The first PMC had an awesome ceremony to get the conference started.

I agree that you can't please everyone. Comic Con is one of the biggest conferences and I'm sure they get a large number of issues.
PMC2 felt more organized and allowed for easier interaction with the cast members. The staff worked hard and provided superior customer service. You can tell that they took great pride in their work and the conference.
Out of curiousity, what were the issues?
Ive defended PMC and the work of the staff to the death on Rangerboard, some fans just are never satisfied it seems.
I wouldn't go that far. PMC2 was a great even and I loved every second of it. But to say it was flawless is a mistake. No event is flawless. There were some people who had very good reason to leave upset. But like you said, there are also some who just moan and groan for the sake of it. I do think that the majority of complaints about PMC2 are overreacting and not as bad as they make it out to be. In fact, I think most of the people who said they hated PMC2 will try to make it back out to PMC3. Guaranteed.
Speaking of, another suggestion just popped into my head. Can we do away with that rule about not being able to go behind tables to take pictures with the cast members? It's a terrible rule. We paid all this money to come meet and take pictures with the cast, but the only way to do it is via awkwardly bending over a table? One of the cast members I talked to was also very frustrated with this rule and was kind enough to take pictures with everyone during off hours at another, more open part of the convention center as to avoid having to take these awkward photos. I apologize if it it seems like I'm often complaining, but I do like posting small problems from the last convention here as a means to make future PMC's even better.

I understand. While I realize this arrangement is inconvenient for some people as well as some of the guests, I can also tell you several of the guests preferred this arrangement for various reasons. While some conventions are more free-floating in the arrangement of guests and attendees, this system has worked for us. The autograph setup at MMCorp's original PMC was anarchy. The decision to keep guests behind the table during signings unless the attendee opts for a personal photograph with them was partially a compromise to expedite turnover. Sadly, there is never going to be a system that satisfies everyone all of the time. I appreciate people who tell us honestly and openly what they did and did not enjoy about the show. An endless deluge of negativity with no constructive component doesn't help anyone, and wanting to improve things for the community helps everyone. A convention is only as good as the fandom it represents. So, thank you for that.
If I didn't think PMC had room to improve, I wouldn't be doing what I do now. I wouldn't need to. It wouldn't need a promotional department at all.

I happen to think the opening and closing ceremonies of the original PMC and the celebration of Zach and his family was a personal highlight of this fandom. There is a grandeur and a legitimacy to Disney and Bandai officially deigning a young child a Junior Power Ranger. If I had his full name offhand I would insist upon including him in any and all documentation listing the various teams of Rangers. We all saw it happen: he's OFFICIALLY a Power Ranger.
I should actually ask Katy about that, come to think of it.

Please note, Pink Ranger admittance is "children under twelve enter free," though if you wish for your child to enter the Gold Ranger events with you, they will need their own paid Gold admission. The Gold Ranger area in each panel will be EXCLUSIVE to Gold membership holders, and that means even the children of attendees. However, infant children of Gold membership holders are permitted in the Gold Ranger seating areas.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Gotta love Gold! Thanks for the clarification on the "infant seating".
Passes go on sale in less than 48 hours, and I have only one question: where do we go to buy them?
Also, when will we find out what seat number we have? Will that be emailed to us or will we find out once we get there?
Cmdr Crayfish

Just to let everybody know, Gold Ranger memberships will not be allowed a "plus one" to the breakfast like with last year. The breakfast and other exclusive events are now open EXCLUSIVELY to Gold Ranger members.

We will be posting the link to the site the moment sales open. And yes, seat numbers will be organized by party, order and then grouped together on the day.
So if I'm the first order, will I be seat #1, for example?

It's so much harder trying to do it internationally. Even the well versed travel agents have no idea where half the Canadian cities are and it's takes them twice as long to figure out how to get to them. I completely understand why you live in 1990 and have to see an agent, if only because... Damn. This is not a level of flight interconnectivity (let alone booking) you could do yourself via a travel site and for the best rates it almost has to be block purchased.
(I sorta miss the heyday of the travel agent, though I do not in any way miss the era when your sole hope of experiencing a place or environ was to rely on travel books, esoteric maps, brochures, or marketing department promotional videos - I suppose the last vestiges of the already long-dead era of travel romanticism dying within my teenage years have left me nostalgic)

The larger issue there is financing. Sure, you can hold a convention far from where most of the actors are... but then don't expect to get most of the actors as guests. You could hold a really nice PMC event with Matt Austin, Jeff Parazzo, Kevin Duhaney, etc. out in Toronto or Vancouver because they're native Canadians. You aren't paying for international flights. It's not quite so simple to do it with Jason Chan or Steve Cardenas. There's a reason the original PMC had so many of the Kiwi cast in attendance: Disney footed the bill for the two preceding seasons, and Maureen depleted her life savings to nothing to get the rest Disney refused to pay for.
There have been people who have asked Scott about a PMC Express event somewhere in Canada, and if people genuinely lobby their local conventions hard enough to contact Scott about hosting it, it could very well happen. PMC Express goes where there is demand for PMC but the economics won't allow for an entire Power Rangers convention to be mounted (putting aside the legalities that, as the officially licensed convention, nobody else is allowed to call themselves a "Power Rangers" convention but Scott/PMC Inc.).

I was wondering two things since this is my first power morphicon . Is there going to be a photographer on site like at the last convention ( which i saw in the videos ) and also how much did they charge . oh yeah , when are more gold events being announced .I know it's like 61/2 months away but what time will the convention start and also what time is registration for Gold members . just wondering and thanks again ...
Cmdr Crayfish

Yes, more Gold events will be announced soon.
The schedule is not going to be announced six months ahead of time: we're still making sure each of the days are filled to capacity before we do things like blocking out the schedule! I would make a point to remind attendees of the last two PMCs that despite ostensibly closing at 7-8, certain panels like the MiSTings never happened before 10-11. Just because the schedule officially ends at an arbitrary point doesn't mean the latest panels might not run long. As for start times, make it a point to be awake by 8-9AM most mornings at a convention; it's just a good rule of thumb.
There will be professional photographers available for high-quality pictures with guests. Prices will be announced closer to the dates.
Hope some of this helps!

What's this? PMC3 is this year already? It's still in California isn't it? Guess I won't be going (I have one in Tampa Bay to go to though!)
The PMC Twitter tweeted a picture of the ballroom PMC will be taking place in this summer. It looks nice. I was expecting a "warehouse" type room, but it's not. It looks beautiful.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=23249103&l=9041821fb8&id=226350690636
The picture is only about half the room.
Scott Page-Pagter posted this on his Facebook.
Just signed up for the Power Morphicon later this year. I'm thinking of doing a seminar where I'll play out takes of all the rangers I worked with in their recording sessions. got some juicy stuff!! Anybody interested?
So he is confirmed to attend. I feel like not a lot of people know about Scott, including myself before PMC2, but this guy is the man. I talked to him very briefly at the last convention and he is the man. I enjoyed his presence at the panels too.
And someone should let him know that his idea is a good one. Chris, you guys should have that as one of the "late night" panels or something, like Tony Oliver's video presentations were.

Yeah, we're actually the entire main convention center building adjacent from the hotel and ice rink this year. We're able to support Botcon-scale venues now. We're all pretty proud of that.
I'm delighted SPP jumped the gun on the announcement, as have a few other of our most recent signees. It really builds a groundswell of interest. I already planned to ask him about doing that if the panel coordinator (some jerk named Funaro) can make the schedule work, so you needn't worry. Scott is honestly one of the people I most regret never attended the original convention, and he was one of the first Jesse and I contacted three years ago. I've known him for almost fifteen years now, and he is an endless fount of great stories and gentlemanly conduct. Scott and David Walsh are, to my mind, the only people who could ever sound engineer PR properly.
This is going to be the first one I'm attending, and while I have my budget planned out relatively, with savings going out, gold ticket bought, plane tickets bought, hotel reserved, etc, I'm still feeling uneasy about the nearby amenities. What all is there in terms of restaurants, grocery stores, etc during the convention days? I'm going to be in Pasadena Aug 16-21. If you're just going for the convention, is it reasonable to not bother with a rental car? I'm expecting each day I'm there to be consumed by PR/convention related things.
Some advice from past attendees is fantastic for planning this out as a newbie.

There's a nice open air quasi-"lifestyle center" mall directly across the street (visible from the "Megazord crossing the street" viral video), and it has a ton of restaurants and a very nice and fresh grocery store. It's not open 24 hours, but it closes late and opens early. There's a Target about six blocks down from the Pasadena Convention Center, and it is walkable (or in the case of Peter and I going to get electrical tape, Bataan Death Marchable). I didn't use a car last time and we won't be using one this year either.
Glad to help a PMC newcomer.
I wouldn't bother with a rental car. There's a Metro-type thing about a block away from the hotel that can take you just about anywhere for only $1 or $2, including downtown LA, Long Beach, etc. I used it last time to get some In-N-Out Burger. So I would strongly discourage you from renting a car unless you plan on driving somewhere far away. Are you staying at the Sheraton? If so, the hotel also has a personal van that can drive you anywhere you want. It won't go too far (so don't expect it to drive you an hour away or something), but it'll take you anywhere local, such as a supermarket. There were people last time who had it drive them to a supermarket to pick up booze. It's very easy to use. You just have to ask the front desk to have it take you somewhere.
As for food, there's a huge outdoor food court literally right across the street from the convention center. Other than satisfying my need for In-N-Out Burger, I didn't find the need to go anywhere else for food. I just ate at the food court each day. There's tons of different restaurants there for any kind of food you want: burgers, Chinese, Mexican, etc. The prices are normal, what you'd expect at any other Chinese restaurant, burger joint, etc. I'm sure if you wanted to hit up a supermarket there must be one relatively close by. You can ask at the front desk and take the Metro-thing if need be. They also sell food in the convention center, but it is a bit overpriced, just like you'd expect when going to an amusement park or something. So of course it's always cheaper to eat outside the convention center.
If you're going to be there from the 16-21, it also looks like you'll have a couple days on your hands that won't be occupied by the convention. But again, the Metro-thing (I can't remember the name for it, it's not underground though) can take you anywhere you want to visit. I used it last time and saw other Ranger fans aboard it as well. So I wouldn't worry. I went to both PMC's and I can assure you that everything is very easy and accessible. It's all in a great location. You'll have a great time. The front desk can help you with anything you need.
Yeah, and I'm certain getting in contact with fellow fans the week before wouldn't hurt either.
I'll skip a rental car then. Much more people are telling me no than yes.
I'm not going to be cosplaying, but I'm wanting wrist morphers and such to carry around. I've got a Chronomorpher, samurai morpher and shodophone already. I have a Morphin Brace coming in the mail and should have a legendary mobirates coming soon. Only other ones I'll look into getting are a wind/thunder morpher and/or a samurai amulet necklace.
Were you able to get to an in n out burger while there? Everyone I knew from California tells me to eat there so I gotta keep it on my list of places to go.
Cmdr Crayfish
03-09-2012, 05:20 PM
I've never been to an In N Out either, but I've heard much the same. Peter, god bless his soul, drove my wife and I to Jack in the Box a few blocks away for our first meals of the day on Saturday night. That met my quota of "restaurants that don't exist in my part of the country" for the trip.
Yeah, a rental car is a definite no, like I said, unless you plan to road trip somewhere far. Save that money for things at the convention in case you plan on buying stuff from the vendors or getting autographs. Do keep in mind that each actor/actress usually charges somewhere between $5-$20 for autographs. It's pretty insane and the costs certainly rack up. I understand why they charge, but some of them really need to lower their prices for a damn signature. I remember at the last convention Vernon Wells was charging $20 for autographs. Vernon's an awesome guy, but $20 for a signature is a bit...much.
And yeah, getting In-N-Out burger is a must. There's not one within walking distance from the hotel, but you can take the Metro to one of the stops and then walk 10 blocks or so. The front desk will tell you exactly where to go. Or as I later learned (after the 10 block journey), the hotel's personal van can just drive you there, which is must easier. But seeing as I'm from the East coast, getting In-N-Out is a must everytime I go out West since they only exist out there. I'll be honest. When I go to Pasadena this summer, I'm most excited for PMC. But the second thing I'm most excited for is In-N-Out.
And yeah, you'll see Ranger fans everywhere, especially all over the hotel. I remember last time walking into the lobby to check-in and all you hear is Communicator noises and Power Rangers talk everywhere. It's a little strange at first because I'm not used to walking into a public building and hearing Power Rangers talk from every direction. But you can always join in with the other Ranger fans and they'll be fine.

I'll definitely go that Thursday before the convention, maybe the Monday after too. I love In-N-Out, but I don't plan on missing any convention hours for it.
Everyone I talk to from California tell me that after eating a hamburger from In-N-Out, you'll never look at hamburgers anywhere else the same way again.
I'll be flying in Thursday mid-day and leaving Tuesday Mid-day. That leaves Monday for whatever I choose. I'll just play it by ear.
What aspects of PMC does the gold pass give you priority to? panels?
Cmdr Crayfish
03-09-2012, 06:47 PM
Annexed VIP seating at the front of the panel rooms. Early admittance on some mornings (given the assigned seating, this is frankly more for convenience of people who want to hit up the dealer's room or snatch an early autograph). Exclusive panels as well as opt-in events like the breakfast or Steve Cardenas' karate class (the tier-one announcements from last September). Tons more swag.
O92, I might hit you up in the next few months about Thursday night if that's cool? We'll all be doing setup and bag prep Thursday, so I'm not gonna be leaving the convention center from the moment we arrive. I am happy to pay if you don't mind the extra effort in transport.
Oh, so you have to wait in line like everyone else for panels, the gold passes just give you front row seats.
Yeah, the front rows will be closed off for Gold passes this time. So if you're a non-Gold, I guess the best row you can get is 6th or 7th, whatever number is ends up being. You get it.

I always try to follow the example of scheduling mutually interesting things at the same time, so even if you can't get into one panel you really want to, you can go into another. Even I couldn't see half of the panels last time. Indeed, this was a source of contention between Jesse and I as to who would be emceeing what since we couldn't go to most of the same events together. That said, due to the staggered schedule of the first convention across the two-and-a-half panel areas in the Wilshire, I DID make it to over half of those panels...

You're right. I forgot the time difference. It's 8PM here on the East coast.
Hey Chris, I have a question. Have you, or anyone else from the PMC team, ever reached out to Saban to get involved with PMC? And I don't mean to take over the helm or anything like that. I mean to take part in it. What about unveiling the new season at the closing ceremony with a season description, logo, something? Can you imagine how epic that would be? I mean, you guys have all the tools to do it. You guys got Tony Oliver on board, and seeing as he works for Saban, he could break the news at the closing ceremony.
DarkBlaze
04-17-2012, 10:34 PM
To add, you also have Tsuyoshi Nonaka which I'm sure will be apart of costume designs again for the new season.
Also consider that, so far, PMC has been coming around once every 2 years. With the new format for the show, we've also been getting new seasons every 2 years (new adaptions). This is thinking a little more long-term, but the two events coincide perfectly. Unveiling the new season (with a logo, description, cast, anything really) at PMC every 2 years is like a match made in heaven. But again, that's a little more long-term.
The closing ceremony would be the perfect place for it too. The convention is awesome as is, but imagine having a blockbuster like that at the very end.

I've actually contacted them and informed them on how to contact the PMC team months ago. I'm not sure whether they reached out to Scott or not. Saban Brands has been pretty awesome in their marketing approach...sometimes more than Nickeledeon. PMC would be an ideal platform for them to directly interact with their fans.
Nice. Any movement on that front? I mean, believe it or not, PMC is creeping up on us quickly.
Fury Diamond

I'm not allowed to go into any details but all I can say is that they were interested. I'm hoping that they were able to contact Scott or the PMC team.
Geez, they better have. It's just a great opportunity and Saban would be foolish to waste it. They shouldn't take this for granted. What the PMC team has accomplished is outstanding. How many showrunners can go on hiatus, come back, and find that their fans have put together a convention that draws in thousands from around the globe? This is a ripe opportunity that Saban should take advantage of. And how much work can it require? Like I said, Tony Oliver is already going to be there. Worst case scenario, you put a copy of the logo and season description on a flash drive and send it with him. And you excite thousands. How hard is that?
Fury Diamond
04-17-2012, 10:49 PM
I agree. This is why I immediately pitched the convention the day that Chris announced the registration date.
This will be a good test to see if Saban really cares. He knows of PMC's existence. He and Elie Dekel have acknowledged it in interviews. All he has to do is put in a bare minimum effort, and the outcome will be great. If he can't even do that, I will be greatly disappointed.

I have a very strong feeling that Saban Brands has plenty of surprises for the fans this year. There will be no doubt on how much they care about their fans (consumers). PMC is definitely THE event to hit up this year.
Well now you got my hopes are up and I'll almost be expecting a "surprise appearance" by Saban lol.
Although let me just say, if Saban does hit up the convention to announce something...it has to be at the closing ceremony. Don't do it any earlier than that. Otherwise you're going to have everyone in such a frenzy, no one will give a damn about anything else going on. We'll just want more on the next season. The closing ceremony is the place to do it.

We're the official convention. We already have Saban corporate sanction and maintain ties with both Saban Brands and Bandai USA. If you're asking whether we're going to be treated as a public relations event for Saban Brands promotional department as well as having contemporary guests attend as part of that, I'm not at liberty to answer that at this time.

Cmdr Crayfish
04-18-2012, 08:52 PM
I fail to see how. This is not an either-or situation. There are five possible interpretations to that non-response. Nothing agreed to and nothing pending, nothing agreed to and something pending, active discussions underway, something agreed to and pending, or something decisively agreed to. Unlike when a parent says "maybe" and means no, some things on a professional level simply mean "I can't talk about this." PMC is an official convention sanctioned by Saban, so the question is not "is there a Saban presence" on a corporate level. The fact we HAVE a convention and they HAVE promoted us many times before is proof of that. There being more than that? I CAN'T talk about that unless or until it happens.
Exactly though, you get the idea.
If I'm thinking I might get a car I've always wanted for Christmas, and I ask my parents "Am I getting the car for Christmas?", there are multiple responses they could give. No likely means no. But if they say "Maybe!" or "I can't say!", that will automatically set up for disappointment if you DON'T get the car on Christmas. Everyone should know what I mean. No one said yes, but the fact that they left the idea hanging automatically raises one's expectations that it could happen. It's normal and it happens all the time. If someone were to ask Saban "Hey, is the new season being unveiled at Morphicon?" and Saban responds by saying "Maybe! You'll have to wait and see!", this will automatically implant the idea into people's heads that it could happen, and therefore, set up disappointment if it doesn't happen. Because people will lean towards what they want to hear.
Such as last weekend. People were disappointed Skull didn't cameo. But no one said he would. But at the same time, no one said he wouldn't. So people had their hopes up.

It's not really the burden of Saban Brands or PMC Inc. to manage people's expectations to that extent, though. The fans who expect the mentor to be a revived Zordon now physically played by Winston Richard and voiced by David Fielding and who ask Saban are going to be told "wait and see" after being thanked for their interest, because that's what public relations drones DO. We say "keep waiting!" and hope that whatever happens, your enjoyment quota is greater than your expectations, both realistic and unrealistic, were.
On a corporate level, you really aren't ever supposed to say "no" to a customer. When people ask about guests or panels or whether a particular merchant will be there, I am OBLIGATED to say "wait and see." Even for matters NOT covered by my gag order! Someone we have contracted might cancel (they might still do that post-announcement, of course), someone who we never expected to show up at all might suddenly pop in, a one-day guest might do three (Audrey), etc.
Look at the Saban Internbot on RB. He has the worst job in the world, because he has to maintain people's enthusiasm even though he is BEREFT of any sort of personality of his own. He can't actually answer any meaningful questions, and can only impart the information he has been legally cleared to. That is the hardest damned job in the world, I know this for a fact. There is stuff you burst at the seams wanting to tell people when it's still provisional, and you CAN'T to ANYONE. I've had to lie to some of my closest friends about stuff related to PR over the years (Forever Red, the details of PRDT, etc.), and it never gets easier, but that's also the job.
Expectation management for a business is a bit different than for familial relations for the same reason I've argued the whole dichotomy of "you must empathize with either disgruntled cast or Saban Entertainment in the 1990s" was false. A business isn't your parent. A business is obligated to keep you satisfied. You do not love a business unconditionally and still have to listen to it make bigoted tirades over Thanksgiving dinner. A business is beholden to its ability to keep you entertained. A parent can get away with latitude no corporation ever could. If your first experience at a restaurant is bad, no matter how good the service is the next time? That place is usually toxic for you forever. A business is not going to tell you "no" until it is a plainly apparent fact what you want is not going to happen, because its their job to do everything in their power to get it for you.
Seriously, the internbot has the worst job in the world. Pity him. Also me.
It's not really the burden of Saban Brands or PMC Inc. to manage people's expectations to that extent, though.
You are exactly right. It's not. Which is exactly why I said you can't do much to lower people's expectations in that regard. It's normal and it will happen naturally.
As for the Internbot, I don't really pity his job, or yours. He's being paid (assuming it's a paid internship, which a lot are these days) to sit on a computer or Smartphone and tweet rhetorical questions all day. If I was a betting man, I'd bet that he doesn't even know a damn thing about this show nor does he care. He's just tweeting questions that even a simpleton could come up with like "Who's the Red Ranger in Samurai? Go!". Then they "cranked up the difficulty" on him and told him "Alright! I want you take those same rhetorical questions you're tweeting and start putting them on message boards TOO!". I wish I could be paid to post obvious questions on message boards.

I am 99% sure that is an unpaid intern doing it for the hours (who hires a guy to do a job like this when you could get a college kid to?), hence Tober's title of "internbot." And that's why I pity him. I do this out of love and enjoyment, but this is a job I almost guarantee he's not compensated for.
You don't think he's in college? I would imagine it's some college kid doing it for his resume at the very least. If he's already graduated, then that's bizzare. He must just be one of Saban's personal slaves.
This is interesting. Maybe you guys should have a panel for him at PMC.

04-18-2012, 09:58 PM
You laugh, but I'd have a Kidd Video panel if I could. It's a Saban property! You think I wouldn't love AN ACTUAL INTERNBOT PANEL?! As far as I am concerned, that man is the greatest hero in the history of the franchise.
It could be a late-night event like the Linkara thing. I don't know if Linkara's going back this year, but Internbot: the Panel sounds great. I'd actually go. Honestly.

One of the coolest things about PMC is the charity auction. Fans and Crew-members alike donate awesome, many times one of a kind items you can bid on, with all the proceeds going to charity. It's a great way to give back, and a great way to get a one of a kind item. Plus, it's good karma for an awesome weekend. EVERYONE should email officialpowermorphicon@gmail.com with encouragement for a charity auction at pmc and/or a description of an item you want to donate. Let's make this happen!

It's being teased at the Power Morphicon facebook as well:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Official-Power-Morphicon-Convention/226350690636
The PMC Twitter teased a huge guest announcement sometime around the beginning of this week, but have yet to deliver anything.
Fury Diamond also reported that Saban plans to have a much bigger presence at this year's PMC as well, and that started last week with the announcement that the entire Samurai cast would be attending.
And the cockteasing continues. From the PMC Facebook:
Ok People,
You have been waiting for it do you want it. The huge guest announcement is now multiple announcements tonight with a special appearance by ??????? Monday morning so stay tuned.
Whoever is running the PMC Facebook & Twitter accounts, in all due respect, needs to do a better job with their spelling & grammar. It looks highly unprofessional to be written out like that. This is just a minor complaint, but honestly, little things help. If I'm a new PMC-goer thinking about investing a large amount of money into attending, it doesn't rub me the right way when it looks as if an 8 year old is running their social media and fan interaction. I don't want to insult whoever's running the accounts, since chances are it's probably someone I know, but really, a little more effort could go a long way.
So it appears we will have multiple announcements tonight. The first one made (and also poorly written) stated that the deadline to register is July 9.

You can't reedit someone else's posts under an administrator account. Scott is a horrible typist, and freely admits that. He's always doing about thirty things at the same time. If I could rewrite his typos when I log in as an admin, I would. I can't.
I understand Scott's busy, so it's understandable. I just think, for the better of PMC, the extra effort could go a long while. Even if it means having someone else, like you, run the account alongside him.
I mean, would you want to sign up with a cellphone company, giving them all your personal information and paying them monthly, whose ad's read: "Come try our new cell phoen plan only $30 a month unlimited everything try it out nowz!"...probably not. It looks highly unprofessional and that's a turn off. It's also why you don't use slang (such as u/you, or 4/for) in the professional/corporate world because it looks unprofessional. Again, this is a minor issue, but little details can go far for newcomers who are still teetering on the edge on whether they should attend or not.
In the meantime, I look forward to the other big announcements that will be released in the coming hours.

Hey...I know I said this in one of the other threads, but because I haven't gotten any bites on this on the official PMC forums after several weeks of waiting, I thought I'd ask here since it's a little busier.
Are there any other females going to PMC and (preferably) arriving on Thursday/leaving on Monday who'd have room in their hotel room for another? I'd really rather not have to pay full cost for a room just for myself, as my financial situation just recently hit a snag, and I'd split the cost with you. And if necessary, I'd be more than happy to just pack a couple blankets and a pillow and sleep on the floor.
If there's anyone willing to lend a hand, could you please send me a PM? Thanks.
The hours of the convention have been posted on the PMC website. Nothing alarming, it's about what we would have expected.

Yeah, I'm happy to report that nothing has changed from PMC2. Good sized, clean room, huge bed, good beer, nice food, free WIFI in the lobby and bar. If you don't fancy eating in the hotel, there are loads of restaurants over the street and Subway for anyone who prefers take-out. I've just taken an early morning trip to the supermarket next door to stock up the fridge in my room with snacks and breakfast stuff.
I flew here. I don't think that I fancy driving from the UK :P Also, for anyone who wants to know, the Super Shuttle is $25.

There shouldn't be, as long as they're just for personal use. If you printed out a ton of them and were selling them to fellow fans, then there might be a problem, but if it's just for your own collection that should be fine.

Yikes! Finally made it here! What a traveling mess. We had a layover in Houston that would then take us to California, but the original flight was delayed 3 hours because of a broken lightbulb on the front of the plane! So we missed our flight in Houston to California, and had to stay the night in Houston. Thank God I left a couple days earlier. I can only imagine flying out the day before and then something crappy like this happens and you miss a day or 2 of the convention. Glad to finally be here. The weather's not so bad right now. Pretty cool for what I expected actually.

I'm curious will there be official props and scrips at Morpicon? As always I'm looking for scripts that can give names for unnamed or unused monsters (for unproduced scripts that gave us names for Party Crasher and Buzz)
Fury Diamond
08-15-2012, 01:24 PM
The answer is probably not. I doubt that any unnamed monsters will be revealed at Power Morphicon.
Based on most of your posts, I respect that you want to know all of the monster names, but the best source would be John Green's Monster Guide (http://www.grnrngr.com/monsters/index.php).
For those of you still left in the dust, both myself and Fury Diamond will be live tweeting from PMC all weekend long, from the @Rangercrew (twitter.com/rangercrew) account. I highly suggest you follow if you're not already doing so. With 2 of us splitting up, we'll be able to cover nearly every panel, one-on-one time with nearly every guest, and more. I know this sounds like a cheap promotion, but this means tons of tweets, pictures, and announcements all weekend long as we'll be covering everything PMC has to offer.
I do ask that you guys please show mercy on my mobile device though. When you want to comment on something, I'd rather you post your thoughts here in this thread for everyone to see, rather than tweeting it to us.
