Due to recent poll to keep or ditch the Arcade, the Mod staff noticed there were many members who still played it,we are are considering removing all highscores and setting each game back to 0.

Yeah, that way, any scores set by departed members will no longer put current members off playing. :)

easy for you to say you don't have a high score. I took me forever to break into the high score bracket, and I'd prefer to keep them in place thank you very much

If you're keeping the arcade why are you wiping the scores?

@Quark and Neo -We are asking to do this because we feel it will bring a competitive nature back to the arcade, some of the highscores are from members who do not come to RC anymore. Yes we understand those who has highscores will have to play again if they choose to do so, but it will give you a chance to possibly get more highscores then you previously had as where members also have a good chance to play again.
Also keep in mind all champions reigns must come to a end while some must defend their position of champion. So if you have a highscore, then you shouldn't have any problem doing it again? Its like riding a bike, once you do it first time you never forget and can do it again and again.
Reason arcade was so dead was due to fact that members who have highscores don't come to RC anymore, not all members, just some members. No sense in having an individual who hasn't come to board in years to still keep a highscore?

Legacy summed it up well. The main reason we considered removing the Arcade in the first place was that we felt it was inactive. If we remove all the scores, which at this point seems very likely, activity will only increase because high scores will be much easier to obtain. We are hoping that the race to get high-scores will attract members to the Arcade.
I see no reason not to remove them. If anybody has a concrete reason to keep them, please speak up, because at this point, no one has given any reason not to remove them. I have two high scores myself, and I'm perfectly fine with removing the scores. I'm sure it was difficult to obtain a high-score, but in the end, it's just a score. This would just encourage much-needed activity in the Arcade.

Name and shame time! :p
Neo Aguni voted to keep the current high scores... I'm not surprised, since he's champ of Blocks 2 and PR Hangman, and only two others have more high scores, and those two (Yoda and Green Guardian) are no longer active on the forum.

(http://www.rangercrew.com/forum/arcade.php?&act=Arcade&module=report&user=314)I'd like to know what excuse the other four had for keeping the scores.

This isn't being done to piss members off. It is to create a more joyful, entertaining experience for members. Arcade doesn't have any competition anymore and games are supposed to be fun, but also must have a competitive nature and a challenge to them.

we've cleaned up other parts of the site, its only fitting the scores are treated the same

I don't really play in the Arcade, but resetting the scores gives others a chance to get a high score.

What motivation is there to try and reach a new high score if you know it's just gonna be erased down the line? I don't play the arcade so I don't really care, but that don't make no kinda sense.

What motivation is there to ever play at a game at a real life arcade then? Because they often delete their high scores whenever the game cabinet is turned off. It does make sense, it makes the high scores easier to attain. As things stand, people are put off by the fact some scores are unbeatable. The PR Hangman score for example is insanely high, Neo Aguni must've been playing for hours to get that.

But if anyone can get the high score then you might as well not keep a list, because it means nothing. If Neo Aguni put hours into getting a high score in the arcade, then someone else can put even more hours into getting an even higher score. Rinse and repeat.
I can understand removing the high scores from people who haven't visited here in a couple years or whatever, but other than that...

Dude, the Arcade has been since RC's day 1, so that's like almost 4 years, so you can't count on them being reset again anytime in the near future...
I still strongley reccomend new games as that can give people new chances and spawn renewed interest instead of going to retake the scores of the same games over and over, there are websites dedicated solely to publishing and sharing board games for board managers, one of thelargest that I know of: http://www.ibpdownloads.com/

Hey, I just got an email from ibProArcade (http://www.ibpdownloads.com/) saying they've uploaded a whole bunch of games now available for free, FD I hope when you have the time maybe you'd drop by there or let one of the mods do it and pick out a couple of games to install on the Arcade here...:)
You can see the selection here: http://www.ibpdownloads.com/ipb/index.php?autocom=arcade
