View Full Version : Cole became a Vet after all?

I haven't reached the end of Wild Force as of yet (3 episodes away from it), but I read on the Morphin' Grid Wikia that the original intention for Cole's ending was that he was become a veterinarian like his Gaoranger counterpart, Kakeru Shishi, before it was changed to him simply "using his talents to help animals" (or something in that vague neighborhood of description.

I spent a bunch of time wondering how the original intention could even be possible for a character who may not of have a general education like the rest of his comrades and attempting to calculate how many years of school it would actually take before he was even allowed into veterinarian school before just forgetting about it entirely. Later, I'm browsing the 5-4-1 (Power Rangers) tumbleblog and came across this:

I was taking a closer look at the photos on Alyssa’s desk in the finale, and noticed one of Cole… and he’s a fricken doctor! Where’s was THIS in your epilogue?

Forget Tommy’s impossible PHD, how did COLE get an MD? I don’t care if it’s just veterinary school, I need to know this show!

Also, I’m totally calling him “Dr. Deker” in Samurai now. (source (http://5-4-1.tumblr.com/post/10529434181/i-was-taking-a-closer-look-at-the-photos-on))

Could this even be considered remotely canon or is this just one prop detail they never bothered to remove under the assumption "well, no one's gonna look that hard" for something that doesn't get mentioned in the grand scheme of things?

It's not like he couldn't have appropriated a stethoscope from somewhere else, right?

It's not impossible. We were never told when Alyssa's story takes place, and it's possible that his friends, and the other rangers he's met could have helped him set up a new life. I can't see him working with medical rules though. Also, I would love to have seen his reaction the first time an abused pet is brought in.

I don't believe using medical tools means he's a doctor. It just means he's using the best resources at his disposal.

Of course, we may actually find out in 2013/4. When Gokaiger's Gaoranger tribute is adapted (Kakeru was in it, and working as a vet of course - if this is slavishly translated like much of Samurai has been so far, then Cole will be a vet, if they go original, all bets are off).

Like Walgreen's or something? :P

So, where do you think he could be working that requires a Stethoscope (not that he really needs one what with his abilities) under the assumption he's not a doctor in this case? Out of his backyard, on the road or a animal shelter short on hands that doesn't squabble about medical qualifications? I'm genuinely curious.

Roaming the Earth helping animals. Providing field medicine where he can.

To be fair, wasn't Ricardo himself working as a vet prior to WF? That's probably where the picture came from.

I do recall that Rick was also a qualified Vet and also was working as one at one point post WF (at least before or during his "dancing" career).

I remember the post-WF vet posts while he and Slavco had that blog while they were on "Kept," but I think he was also worked as a vet before his stint on WF. He was a 'dancer' before WF, since the site for his, erm, 'employer' said that he was back, mentioning his time as the Red Ranger.
