Season Summary:
Abaranger is the twenty-seventh installment of the Super Sentai Franchise. Abaranger is a unique series in that some of the heroes were parents, something that had never been done in Sentai and Tokusatsu in general before. The series premise is also similar to the Super Mario Brothers Movie. Abaranger is also unique for having it's Head Writer, Naruhisa Arakawa, go on to be the Head Writer for Sentai the second year in a row with Dekaranger, following Abaranger. Something Sentai and Tokusatsu in general hasn't done since the mid-90s.

Scientists believe that 65,000,000 years ago, a meteorite's crash on Earth killed off the dinosaurs, but in truth, it split Earth into two parallel universes: Dino Earth, an Earth where dinosaurs were still the superior species, and our Earth, referred to as Another Earth by the residents of Dino Earth. Overtime, the Dino People and Burstosaur races came into being on Dino Earth but were at war with the Evoliens, entities that emerged from the meteor. The two Earths are separate until Asuka, a Dragonoid from Dino Earth, arrives on Earth via a transdimensional portal. However, he is followed by the Evoliens in their Anamolicarus spaceship and the three Burstosaur under their control. As the Burstosaur Tyrannosaurus, Ptreranodon, and Triceratops attack Tokyo, a call is sent out to three destined ones who possess Dino Guts to gain the powers to tame the three beasts. Together with their Burstosaur partners, the three become Abarangers to protect their dimension from the Evoliens. In time another Abaranger appears, but he takes the name "AbareKiller" and fights the others while the Evoliens carry out their ultimate goal: the resurrection of their god.

In addition, episode 10 in nearly its entirety was used for episode 19 of Power Rangers Dino Thunder as an English-dubbed show that the Dino Thunder Power Rangers discover on television. Under various circumstances, Super Sentai warriors who previously died in their series appear to still possess their powers in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. For example, in episode 18, Mikoto Nakadai can change into Abare Killer in Gai Ikari's dream sequence that provided him with his powers, however he is not the only character from Abaranger to appear in the anniversary season. Abare Blue shows up in episode 29 of Gokaiger to provide the pirates with the Abaranger's Ultimate Power. The greater power of the Abarangers is normally used for Goujyujin through Gai's use of the Abare Killer Key, but when the entire Abaranger Key set (Abare Pig key not withstanding) is used, it enables the formation of Goujyu Gokaioh. It is shown in Gokaiger that Yukito and Emiri are married. Emiri made her own Ranger Key for her one-time identity as Abare Pink, which she gives to Ahim after Ahim is left without a key to use. While it is made from clay, the key works and transforms Ahim into Abare Pink, much to her embarrassment. Ahim is given the Abare Pig/Pink key by Emiri in the same episode, which she is too embarrassed to be caught using because the suit resembles the homemade one Emiri used in Abaranger to keep her parents from forcing her to leave the Dino Curry House.

It was different. I'll give it that. Having our two future allies try to transform first and failed was something we've never seen before.

I thought it was interesting. I mean thinking an old man and a young girl were rangers was hilarious. Also I am going to love the next three months with Aba and Jetman this month, Zyuranger next month and then Dairanger.

The Abaranger team was one of the better three-man starter teams that I've seen, and Emiri and Ryunouske were great supporting characters for the team.

Seeing as I'm a fan on Dino Thunder and Abaranger is one of my favorite early 21st century sentai series yes.

Ιt was for sure different than Dino Thunder. Especially Asuka coming from another dimension was really interesting. Completelly different characters than Dino Rangers. Bravo disney for doing something different!

Like they had any choice? Abared was a father. Has any ranger that age ever been a parent in PR? No. The only ones who were parents in fact, are Udonna and Leanbow in Mystic Force, and that was a copy from the Sentai (except their offspring was the entire core five in Magiranger, instead of just red) and they were middle aged, not the usual teens and 20-somethings.

Indeed Abared's story was weird for Power Rangers. On the other hand Asuka's story was awesome and it is pity they didn't use it. But it wouldn't fit with Tommy on the other hand. Well remove Tommy then, I don't care. LOL

I liked the suits a lot, especially the way they were basically inversions of the Zyuranger suits, a subtle way of saying "Yeah, we know we already did the dinosaur theme, deal with it."

I know what you mean, both sets of suits (as well as the Blastosaurs, Abaranger's mecha) have diamond designs on them... it's meant to resemble teeth, I think.

As for the repeated theme, there's this thing called the Seven Year Rule. After seven years, the target audience should've been completely replaced, and duplication doesn't matter. It's not just Zyuranger and Abaranger (dinosaurs), but also Kakuranger and Hurricanger (ninja), and Maskman, Dairanger, and Gekiranger (martial arts).

With Abaranger's suits, I did always like AbareBlack's design.

2nd question why was is abare 'pig pink' in this when she 'joined' in Gokaiger? lolShe always wanted to be an Abaranger, but that AbarePink cosplay suit was the closest she got. It wasn't until Gokaiger that someone actually morphed into the AbarePink suit, thanks to Emiri's key for Ahim's Gokai Change. Her embarrassment shows just how deluded Emiri was, lol!

By the way, the fact her mouth was visible while wearing is the AbarePink suit is the reason Dino Thunder didn't use the footage. If it had been fully covered, they could've given the plot to Cassidy, who is pretty much Emiri's counterpart as the comic relief girl.

I loved the core four. The Abarangers were emotional devoted to the battle, something I felt a few teams in the team decade weren't. You had Ryouga fighting to keep the world safe for his daughter. You had Yukito fighting to prove he wasn't some worthless corporate sack of crap who could buy his way through anything. You had Ranru fighting because she hates injustice and wants everyone to be happy. And you had Asuka fighting because, growing up in a war torn world, he seen what war can do and is making damn sure the same thing doesn't happen again.

About the core four...well the character development was awesome because of that, but I hate it when there in no 6th member in sentai or in power rangers. I prefer 3+2+1 or 5+1 instead of 4+1. Core 3 is the best IMO. Loved it on hurricanger and liveman

Jeanne and Rije were obviously better than Michaela and Voffa, but at least the latter two had interesting ways of making monsters, plus the monsters themselves were always uniquely bizarre, which is nice.

I liked the designs for the most part, though Ptera and Brachio seemed a little lazy. Ptera was better than the one in Zyuranger but at the same time worse... I liked how Brachio was storage for the others but it kinda sucked he couldnt combine

The Mechas is Aba is really cool and Abareoh is awesome

I liked Brachio; sure, he didn't fight or combine, but he was always quoting some old Toku series, and that's just awesome. The main fighting three were also nice both in their designs and characters, and the Abarenoh has the drill arm which led to a unique finisher, so that's good too.

I thought they had great designs, and Mikoto served very well as Ryoga's foil, especially the way he saved his life back in the first episode. Little complications like those are the best kind.

In DT it was more like white ranger with evil. Something similar to green days of Tommy. In Abaranger it was different. Mikoto wanted to be evil, instead of Trent who was manipulated and didn't remember anything the next morning

In Abaranger we notace the Abakiller have really the total ideia of he as done, with Trent is more the Evil influence of the Dino gem but we can see too we wants to take Mesegog place,but we can see Abakiller is a consiente Villan.

Styraco didn't have a personality like the others, so it was hard to have feelings about it one way or the other. The climactic confrontation between Asuka and Jeanne was really well done, and it was nice to be able to get to know Mahoro and see her with some agency on the good guy side.

What did you think of Lijewel regressing into an infant again, the deaths of Mikela, Voffa, Mikoto, & Top Galer, and the finale?

I felt really sad for Mikoto's death. For a few minutes I thought we would have more that one funerals. Thank god,only one. The final battle with Desomuzoria was fantastic!
As for the other deaths I was expecting that would happen. It was shocking joke that people with exact the same look like Mikoto,Lijewel etc. appear in the restaurant at the end

Lijewel turning back into an infant so she could grow up untainted by Dezumozoya's presence was nice, Mikoto and Top Galer got good death scenes, and the finale was overall good, especially the scene where all the doppelgangers show up at the Dino Curry shop.

The Lijewel retuns to be a infant as cool to see to reborn as no presence of Evil in her, the deaths of Mikaela,Voffa, Mikoto as pretty cool and the great Final battle aganst Desomuzoria as epic.
The Finale as great see them all together in the restaurant as cool see the people exact them.

I find it a good season with a unique team structure. The tone shifts wildly from episode to episode, which could be disconcerting for some viewers.

I feel like Abaranger is one of the most underrated Sentais of the past decade. People either write the show off as "The goofy Sentai" or say Killer was it's only saving grace. For the former, I'm like, what the hell man? Gaoranger, Hurricaneger, Dekaranger, and Magiranger were all pretty damn goofy and I fail to see how Abaranger was really any more goofier then them. For one thing, I say Abaranger handled it's comedy better than most Sentais in the past decade did. Not only did the actors have great comedic timing, but the characters, usually cynical Yukito, would question some of the more out-there things Evolian would do, as oppose to just mindless going along with the absurity. The show could have fallen flat on it's butt, but the cast and crew handle it properly.

For the latter, while I do agree things did pick up around the time Killer showed up, I do think people tend to overlook what the pre-Killer episodes had to offer. They were generally heartwarming episodes and had heartwarming moments that really help you care for the characters when the real heavy stuff hit. Like the episode where a man in the future looks back at the time Ranru helped him out as a kid. Or the episode where Ryouga helped out a suicidal man in despair. Or the episode with Ryuunosuke and his old war buddy.

tldr: Abaranger is a underrated and worthwhile series. While there are a few episodes that do slightly go too far in the comedic department, they were filler episodes anyway and don't detract from the show's main goal. I think the goofiest thing in Abaranger was the Spanish speaking dinosaur, but that's really no goofier than Gao King playing soccer or Senpuujin playing with a kendama.

This season is a must seen for Mikoto's and Asura's stories that have nothing to do with Dino Thunder. Generally the show is completelly different than DT so it's a must seen for this. I personally respected way much more what Disney did with this season

This is out of no where but in Abaranger the white ranger suit was a prototype suit with a self destruct mechanism in it. I wonder what the completed suit would have looked like if the storyline was continued.
