Season Summary:
Seijuu Sentai Gingaman is the twenty-second installment of the Super Sentai franchise. While Megaranger revolutionized Sentai with it’s up-to-date tech, Gingaman was a retro throwback to old school Sentai and Tokusatsu. From the "man" sufix in their name, to the illustrated eyecatches, to hauling Masato Shimon out of retirement for the themes, and to the villains' voice actors. To date, Gingaman has the hightest ratings out of all the 90s Sentai.

Three thousand years ago, the Space Pirates Barban invaded Earth. The Starbeasts and the first Gingaman, warriors of the Ginga Forest, fought them with the mystical power called Earth and eventually were able to imprison them. The Ginga people later cloaked their forest within marked boundaries and passed on the duty of the Ginga warriors through generations. Hyuuga, Hayate, Gouki, Hikaru and Saya are chosen as the 133rd warriors of the Star Beast Swords. Ryouma is very happy that his elder brother Hyuuga succeeds to the honorable title. When Elder Ohghi holds the succession ceremony of Star Beast Swords, an earthquake breaks the seal of Barban.

Ohghi orders the five warriors to get the Ginga Braces hidden in Roaring Mountain. However, the Barban attacks them to prevent the birth of the new Gingamen. During the battle, Hyuuga got swallowed into a crack in the ground which Captain Zahab of the Barban created. Enraged, Ryouma activates his hidden Earth power and awaken the Ginga Braces. The Gingaman fights together with the Starbeasts against the Barban, who desire to revive the Demon Beast, Daitanix, on whose 'corpse' they built their castle

Hyuuga’s younger brother and replacement Ryouma possessed the Earth power of fire while flute player Hayate had wind. The gentle-hearted Gouki wieleded water while the mischievous glutton Hikaru had lightning. The sole female, Saya, harnessed the power of flowers. While Hyuuga also possessed the Earth power of fire, he does not use it in special attacks like the other Gingamen very often. Hyuuga gave up his Earth power in hopes of using the Knight Axe to kill Zahab and regains his Earth Power in the finale after the Knight Axe is destroyed.

In Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai, Gouki returns and lectured Soutarou Ushigome , Gao Black, on the many strong warriors of the Super Sentai franchise. He would later offer his assistance in the fight against Rakushassa alongside the other Dream Sentai warriors. Ryouma appeared alongside the red warriors from Goranger to Timeranger in Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai, but had no interactions with his former teammate Gouki, who also appeared, but alongside the Dream Sentai instead. Ryouma and Hyuuga both appeared in episode 20 of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Hyuuga hands Gai the Black Knight Key and the Gingamen's greater power, telling him that the powers of the Super Sentai should be best gathered in one place. As the Gokai Galleon sails off, Ryouma arrives admitting his surprise that the newest Super Sentai team is a bunch of space pirates. Hyuuga asks if his hatred for space pirates is still strong, and Ryouma tells his elder brother that he thinks the Gokai Galleon crew are an exception and admits that he highly respects their friendship.

What did you think of the premise?

Yes a great premise for the show. I really love Gingaman.

Like I said in the Zyu thread, Gingaman a show that deals with fantasy "epics" about ancient warriors displaced in "time". Yet the show never deals with the Rangers having to adapt to modern society, among other things. They continually wear their odd tribal garbs and instantly know how to use modern tools. Ginga though at least was a little better with characterizations, but even there it could have used some more work.

i felt that it was ok... there were really strong and weak scenes that ended up making it very average

Gingaman looked great on paper and was even better on the screen. It felt real retro and had a nice story and the villains weren't too bad themeselves.

a little off topic but I'm still confused as to why they had two feline powered rangers, something also repeated in gaoranger, though despite their equal ratio of white and pink, have a different color for the female.

A white ranger wouldn't fit with the Gingaman suit design, although I see no reason why GaoWhite couldn't be pink instead, since their trim colour was gold. At least Gaoranger avoided the wrong zord colour issue - Gingat was pink in animal form and white in mecha form. GaoTiger of course, was white with pink trim, just like GaoWhite's suit.

What did you think of the suits?

When I was a kid, I remember being put off by the suits (they looked so cheap looking). But over time, and watching some Gingaman, they grew on me. Now, I quite like them. Charlie Brown strip and all.

The zig-zag is like a set of teeth... quite suits the forest motif of Gingaman - didn't really suit Lost Galaxy though, so I can see why people might not like the suits.

The white and zig-zag chest was a nice touch to the heavily colored uniform. Overall I like them very much even if they are called the "Charlie Brown uniforms". The Lights of Ginga only made them better and BullBlack/Black Knight goes without saying because it was a cool uniform

A great cast IMO. I love Gouki and Hayate. I like Ryoma and Hikaru too. I'm only on episode 7-8 and for now Saya seems to invisible but i can't Judge her for now.

While I do think the Gingaman could have been varied a bit more, and while they didn't have a lot going for them, I liked the cast. Gouki and Hikaru being my favorites. They were a nice little group of country kids.

For those having problems with Saya early on in Gingaman, well at that point in the show, she was pretty much a generic sweetheart. Keep watching, she does get better as the show progress.

What did you think of the Balban?

The Balban as great to see they are devived for which general have is own soldiers and warriors but as awesome !!!

I always thought their plan to turn the Earth into a jewel was pretty effin stupid. That kind of thing works fine as a MotD plot, but not something thats suppose to sustain a 50 episode show. Also, while I did like the idea of the Balban having four armies, I always thought it was boring and repetitive how they let each army go one at a time when it would have been far more interesting had they alternate between them. Like today is Sanbash's turn, but next week is Batobas's turn, then next weel Illiness up to bat, then Budoh, etc. But other than those two complaints, I liked the Balban. I don't care what anybody says, their designs were great (expect Shelinda's and a few monsters). And I liked how each army had their own theme music, though I always hated that they changed Batobas's, when the one he had in the earlier episodes was superior to the one he got in the later episodes.

The Villans are cool and i liked that Villan in Baldan forces with join forces with Black Knight and i enjoyed the conspiracys between Villans because they want to show be good in of the eyes of the Main Villan.

Well, it wasn't the same in Goseiger. Sanbash, Budoh, Illiness, and Batobas were all Zahab's generals.

I liked Haruhiko and Yuuta... were the inspiration for a certain duo in Goseiger?

Moak was ok.

Bokku was annoying, but not as bad as Mandrake Boy in Magiranger

I think Gingaman had one of the better supporting casts in years. All of them had balls man. Balls of steel.

I love the Gingaman weapon especially the Seijuukens and Kiba Arrow. I love how the Kizaiken Kibas can become various weapon. I like the supporting cast too. Bokku is cute. He remind me Mandara Boy from Magiranger but i prefer Madanra Boy

When I first saw them, I thought they looked like disease ridden animals that needed to be put down. But after watching some Gingaman, they grew on me. In fact, I don't think they look that bad (excep Gingat). Now their Ginseijuu forms were ugly (especially Gingat. In fact, there's nothing appealing about Gingat in general... well, maybe except in kitten form). Also, I enjoy Gingaioh's simple design. Works better than Gaoking's.

It was interesting though I would have preferred it to have been Saya.... I have to say I still dont get the difference between Gingat and GingaPink and GaoTiger and GaoWhite. What Makes one Pink and the other White... in mecha mode Gingat had even less Pink!

I'm kinda mixed on the Hayate/Shelinda rivalry. On one hand, I didn't mind the one-sided-ness of it and I give the show props for not having Shelinda become Hayate's rival because he called her an old lady or accidently cut her face, ruining her looks. But on the other hand, I didn't like how it went about. It's like every time they met, it went like this: "Ginga Green, today the day you die. Fight me! *Fights for while* *Hayate leaves for whatever reason* "I'll get you next time Ginga Green/Fight me Ginga Green! FIGHT ME!"

At first, I didn't care much for Sucuzo, but she won me over when she showed that she too, like the supporting cast, had balls of steel.

And I find Sanbash's death kinda dissappointing. When I first read he died by driving off a cliff, I thought it would be like he drives off, then the whole thing goes all slo-mo as he falls to the bottom then boom. But instead, he blows up in mid-air. Lame.

The Villans from the Gingamen worked well for the Sentai itself, Gingamen concept with Forest them as cool and i think worked as well with the villans

Yeah, Gingaman was a series that was rooted in fantasy. You know what else is rooted in fantasy? Pirates (Peter Pan anyone?)!

Yh, that happens a lot of him and but really enjoyed when him and the other Evil guy join forces to stop the Big Threats because the Gingaman dont are expect some villans like that,because he lets BlackBull joins to the battles but when the battles over he bring him back to him because it as kind a dela between Good and evil because he as conspary again the Main Villan.

I always prefer better the Phoenix most i really the design of the Mecha and Batomas is great he is a great general and i really liked ois warriors.

Gingaman something really cool i liked must in Sentai is when we have many generals and always want to prove themselfts to the Main Villan of the show.

The Earth Beast as really awesome and really enjoyed the battles between Mechas and Earth Beast, the deaths Biznella,Bucrates and Shelinda as cool.

Gingaman is pretty good !!!

I always regretted they waited until the next to last two episodes to make the Hayate/Shelinda rivalry more personal. The whole "Shelinda uses Hayate's fiances' image to attack him" thing should have happen in the late 20s/early 30s. Oh, and give Shelinda a better costume. And not change Batobas' theme music.

Final thoughts on the series? Would you recommend this season to anyone? Why or why not?

The series is quite good and i recommend to any fans of Sentais.

I'm not sure because a lot of ppl I know use Sentai as an alternative to the crud Disney and now in their opinion Sabah are creating. I think it was a decent season but it's not one of the ones I wod recommend off the top of my head

What did you think of the premise?
It was very nice story. Being in the forest, not beeing able to be seen by people and the whole drama about it, it was awesome. One of the best premises I've ever seen


What did you think of the suits?
Didn't like them so much, I hated that white in the centre but the helmets were cool. Bullblack's was top class on the other hand!

Very good cast as always


What did you think of the Balban?
Cool villains. I would love to see them fighting Gokaiger

Since they were all warriors the swords were fitting perfectly especially on the umorphed fights. The kibas weren't that good looking but I liked how they took them back

Nice story they had being from other planets. Wasn't impressed from Gingaioh. Not something special

I loved that episode with the crush. Goaki is like twin brother of a greek actor btw,lol.
The death of Sanbash was epic. Ryouma ruled in their battle!

It was interesting. Like in Boukenger we have variety of villains and styles they use to complete their missions

He was awesome. I couldn't wait when he would so up since I am a huge Magna Defender fan!
