Season Summary


Gekisou Sentai Carranger is the twentieth installment of the Super Sentai franchise. Carranger is a unique series in that it was a full-on comedic Sentai that made fun of various sentai, tokusatsu, and anime clichés and tropes (ie, Dappu faking his death to get the Carrangers to transform, a play on how Death is always the motivation for the heroes. Green Racer losing his Accel Changer because he over posed too much. And the Red Racer/Zonnette romance was a parody of Heroes falling in love with Villains). Carranger is often heralded as the Sentai that saved the franchise from cancellation after Ohranger almost killed it (See Ohranger Thread for more information ('http://www.rangercrew.com/forum/showthread.php?20808-Choriki-Sentai-Ohranger-Discussion-Thread')), though in all actuality, this is an exaggeration. Carranger was a similar attempt at doing something different to regenerate interest in the franchise, something Toei did a few years ago with Jetman, but it was never really more than a cult-hit. Its ratings weren't that much better than Ohranger's, but again, it turned a profit in toys. One could say a lot was riding on Carranger -- if it had flopped in any area, maybe it would have died right alongside the Metal Heroes. So, in that way, one can look at it as Carranger having saved Sentai.

Carranger is, also, often mistaken for being the Twentieth Anniversary series due to being the twentieth entry. While Carranger is the twentieth Sentai, Toei never referred to it as an anniversary show. It never received a special logo or a special crossover and there is nothing anniversary about it.

Five workers from the Pegasus Auto Garage discover Dappu, an alien from planet Hazard. He empowers the five with the "Kurumagic" power of the five legendary car constellations, transforming them into Carrangers. As Carrangers, the five battle an alien reckless driver gang and prevent them from destroying Earth. The Carrangers consist of five employees at the Pegasus Auto Garage and use Kurumagic Power fight the Bowzock.

Kyosuke Jinnai, Red Racer, returned during Kaizoku sentai Gokaiger to provide the Gokaiger with his team’s Greater Power. However it turned out to be a bust as the Carranger’s Greater Power was the ability to make teaching people about traffic safety fun and cool! Navi even pointed out that not a lot of the Great Powers would be useful.

What did you think of the suits?

they were ok... i didnt like the yellow accents on here and in space... it made the yellow look weird just like what happened to white and black in kakuranger or change mermaid in changeman.

I liked the Carranger suits, the black trim really worked for me. They were better than Ohranger's and Megaranger's.

the cast are great. i don't hate Red Racer actor for what happened to him and his now ex. that happens.. i respect their privacy

At first, they came off beinf uncomforable in front of the camera, but once they hit their groove, they're a pretty good cast. Kyosuke, Minoru, and Natsumi were my favorite. Naoki was the weak link of the cast though.

A pretty good group of villains, with a surprising amount to depth to them. Plus, watching Gynamo's and Zelmonda's bonds over the series was pretty interesting.

it's my favorite version of the opening theme. It's so bouncy and bubbly and just fits perfectly with the tone of the show. Extra points for getting Naritaka Takayama back to remix for the Zokurangers. Of course, now I have to take away a point for the Full Accel version.

They are kind of Ok !!

Of the Ranger Vehicles, I only liked Blue, Green, and Yellow. As for RV Robo, I like the desgin, but not its debut. They spent a good chunk of the episode trying to form it, then all it did was it's finisher. Episode 6 made a better debut for it.

Pink's was a cop out. The one time you could have a pink vehicle they go for a weird pink and white combo... if they wanted to hide it away so bad they should have made the arms red

Well in Carranger that power made much sense to the comedic theme of the show and didn't bother me while in turbo it didn't and it sucked as an idea. Comparing to zeo's powers seemed like a downgrade and not an upgrade to my eyes

I effin loved the Zokurangers. Screw the Nejirangers, THESE guys were the best Evil Sentai. I loved how these guys commit such dasterly deeds like steaking a popsulce from a kid and throwing dirt on fresh clean laundry. Plus, their theme song is the Carranger's 1st theme song remixed to fit Zokurangers! Shame they only lasted one episode.

The moment of RitchRitchhiker kicking Gynamo and Zonnette and take over it as great because he really show to be more menage that too and it as great see is plans comes together and stealing RV Robo it as amazing great battle between the RitchRitchhiker mecha vs the RV Robo it as great.

VRV Robo it as awesome and the best mecha of the Carranger.

Dual transformation mechas was pretty cool, but wasn't fond of VRV Robo. RitchRitchhiker's death was pretty good.

All evil spell should be broken by seltzer water.


What did you think of Carranger Vs. Ohranger?

Hands down, the best Vs. Movie ever. I loved how it poke fun at the stiff Ohrangers, though didn't like how exaggerated Kyosuke was in comparison to the TV series.

Eh, thought it was pretty anti climatic to have VRV Robo and RV Robo get destroyed, only to have them be magically repaired at the big celebration party (unless that’s just the magic of Kurumagic power?). Shame Gynamo shrank; giant Gynamo vs. Exhaus would have been crazy awesome.

Exhaus plan to create agiant space highway it as kind of funny but really could comes with others diferent plan as main goal.

Bowzock turning good it as funny and i really enjoyed he try to prove to the thers.

The Finale it as cool and i really enjoyed the Final Battle between Exchaus and the Mechas but he defeated him really easy dont even looks a challenge to him and they battle the Evil Villan in final battle it as great.

Carranger is a pretty funny sentai and is much diferent from PRT i really wonder if they adaptated more footage from Carranger in Turbo the season could have been much better.

He's kinda weird... but I don't dislike him or anything.

Funniest Sentai villains EVER! Even if I couldn't understand what they were saying. XD

Well, since I couldn't understand where it came from... I can't really say much.

I honestly don't care much about the vehicles... but I thought Signalman was ANNOYING. Those CONSTANT flashbacks of him with his family were so unnecessary.

I LOVED him. He is my all-time favorite Sentai villain. Too bad all the episodes that had him in it were never subbed. >>

I liked PT and DC, and Giga Booster was cool too.

What did you think of Radietta Fanbelt/White Racer and the short-lived Bousou Sentai Zokuranger?
I liked Radietta, but that skirt was a LITTLE too short. O.o And the Zokurangers were strange.

What did you think of Signalman leaving Earth and Ritchhiker becoming RitchRitchhiker?
I was overcome with joy when Signalman left. And Ritchritchhiker... AWESOMENESS.

What did you think of the VRV Machines, VRV Robo, and the death of RitchRitchhiker?
I loved everything VRV. VRV Master was frikkin' cool. And I was so pissed when Ritchritchhiker died.

Do you have any regrets about what Carranger DIDN'T do?
Not really.

Is there anything about Carranger that you prefer over Power Rangers Turbo?
Aside from... pretty much everything? XD

As for what I didn't like about the Racers... I can't really say. There was nothing about them that I particularly disliked. Especially with Minoru. He was hilarious. XD
