thank you for that, ive only seen glimpses of gekiranger so never studied Rio, i didnt want to get any preconceived ideas on how the character should play, so i guess you would be the best person to answer that :-)

yeah the deep voice, that was actually sprung on me just before the season premiered in the states, i had no idea they were going to deepen my voice. Before they revealed my face as Jarrod possessed with Dai Shi at the end of ep 2, they wanted a very evil figure and using my voice it would have been too blatantly obvious it was Jarrod (not that it wasnt too hard to work out anyway ;-) ) but once they did that they then had to keep it. To be honest I wasnt completely sold on the idea.

hi, the cape whilest not itchy got extremely hot under lights in the studio so i had ice packs on standby that were shoved down my back, aaahhhh that felt so good!

and to your second question Degnan1 yes Holly is very beautiful but we have to remain professional at all times ;-)

the costume got quite hot DJ Rocca and those leather pants had to get peeled off me...........

of late i have been exploring different ideas and ways of acting with various acting groups, i'm still very new in the game so this was kind of a personal growth thing which is what i felt i needed

it was kind of one of those if you get out there and get active things will happen moments. I did a day workshop with the casting director for power rangers, she got me in for an audition 2 weeks later, i think it was the only role they had not yet cast, and about 3 weeks later had the role

Thanks for answering this! Now that your role is over, you should definitely watch Gekiranger to see how the two of you compare (if you ever have the time). It's such a great series...and then you can make your own observations! :) I'd tell you mine, but it'd probably go WAY too indepth...heehee.

I am enjoying JF alot, and find myself to be more enthralled with the plot of Daishi/Jarrod and Camile, then with the "goodguys" I guess that's a credit to the great job you and Holly are doing. LOL, don't get me wrong, the other guys are great aswell, but I've always been a fan of the ranger villains LOL.

The way you played the distinction of Jarrod and DaiShi in "To Earn Your Stripe" was really superb. ( I personally love the voice difference) and I almost hate to see it end.

Since I was sick with the flu last week (ugh), I snuggled up in my favorite chair and robe with a hot cup of tea (ahhhh) and watched PRJF again.

I think I will stick with my original thought ..Bravissimo!! What a great job you did portrayiing Jarrod/Dai Shi. The time and effort you spent creating 2 totally different individual characters and making them believable was very noticable. Thank you for giving us such a great performance with real emotion.

I hope you decide to continue acting, all of your hard work and training definitely showed.

On another note, I am a big sports fanatic and was wondering what sports season you are enjoying in NZ right now?

i haven't seen any of the other series no, and i dont think there were any practical jokes on set, well not when i was around.
ive mainly been just working on my acting lately, some small talk on some projects but nothing definite

yeah good idea!
the audition process was pretty nerve wrecking, but i just tried to stay relaxed, a few nerves are always good, i felt i had done enough preparation to at least do an ok audition, but would it be enough or would they like it? and when i got a call back it still never occured to me that i could get it, i was just focussed on doing a good audition and having fun
and when i got the part yeah it was pretty unreal, took ages to sink in

i did judo for 3 years from about 8 to 11, but i wasnt really that good, could do a good roll tho so that kind of helped in the show

Jason is a great and a very funny guy so any scenes with him i knew there would be loads of cracking up, and the best bit is when we got to do our fight scenes it was usually me laying the law down on him. But the awesome fight bits definitely involved the stunties! That was cool when they crashed through the wall in path of the righteous!

haha wow well lets start with the questions
i did put on a voice for the role but it was also enhanced as well
they took the fur cape back dam it
both jarrod and dai shi needed each other for the most part so i liked them equal as they gave the character a lot of complexity
i would be pretty happy with the lion spirit

wow djokster_red that is a very good question...............we had a young boy who suffered from cystic fibrosis come out and meet cast and crew on set, he was a huge fan and seeing the enjoyment we brought to him was very humbling

unfortunately i didnt get to do very many stunts at all, but it so much easier and quicker to get a stuntie in to do it
one of my funniest bloopers was filming the ground snake with the rhino dagger and saving Camille, there i was ready to run into the scene for my big hero moment, but i wasnt to sure if i heard action so i started running then stopped and ran back to my mark.............all they saw on camera was this supposedly tough guy running to save Camille then running away scared when cos he's seen some big snake thing, the director was rolling on the ground hysterical

After watching the final two episodes, I have a couple more questions, if you don't mind.

one, if asked, would you consider reprising your role of Jarrod in a future season of power rangers?(perhaps even as a regular of that season?)

and two, after wearing the, from your description, very hot, and I bet sometimes quite uncomfortable outfit DaiShi was in, in the last scene we saw you, what was it like being able to wear the student training outfit instead?

yeah i would definitely consider reprising the role, there's a lot that could be done with him
and yes the training outfit was a welcome relief, and it was very hot that day to!

Since I was sick with the flu last week (ugh), I snuggled up in my favorite chair and robe with a hot cup of tea (ahhhh) and watched PRJF again.

I think I will stick with my original thought ..Bravissimo!! What a great job you did portrayiing Jarrod/Dai Shi. The time and effort you spent creating 2 totally different individual characters and making them believable was very noticable. Thank you for giving us such a great performance with real emotion.

I hope you decide to continue acting, all of your hard work and training definitely showed.

On another note, I am a big sports fanatic and was wondering what sports season you are enjoying in NZ right now?

hey you seem pretty good with words to me, and i am a huge sports fan as well! right now im enjoying the end of the rugby season, our national team the all blacks are attempting to go unbeaten on a tour of the United Kingdom, and the cricket season has just started up and New Zealand are about to take on the dirty Australians ;-)

If there was a Power Ranger convention, say maybe a few years or so from now, and you were invited, would you try hard to make it? (Likely being held in the United States.)

As well, what do you think some in the fandom either don't know about the characters you played or maybe don't fully understand in Jungle Fury? Something maybe you would like fleshed out a bit more that didn't make it into the show or just wasn't maybe as obvious.

As well, what is probably the 1 big thing about the PR fandom you seem to really enjoy/like?

unfortunately i didnt get to do very many stunts at all, but it so much easier and quicker to get a stuntie in to do it
one of my funniest bloopers was filming the ground snake with the rhino dagger and saving Camille, there i was ready to run into the scene for my big hero moment, but i wasnt to sure if i heard action so i started running then stopped and ran back to my mark.............all they saw on camera was this supposedly tough guy running to save Camille then running away scared when cos he's seen some big snake thing, the director was rolling on the ground hysterical

LOL, that's funny. I love bloopers. I hope they put the in some special features on the dvds. LOL, I've had a couple bloopers myself, nothin like that tho, just the boring kind. I do, VERY small time, amateur filmmaking. VERY very small time.



wow djokster_red that is a very good question...............we had a young boy who suffered from cystic fibrosis come out and meet cast and crew on set, he was a huge fan and seeing the enjoyment we brought to him was very humbling

Hey Bede, I hope all is well with you.

How did the All Blacks finish their season? Undefeated I hope. Cricket, hmm, I did some checking into that here in the US and to my surprise found a league that plays about 30 minutes from where I live, not the same scale as NZ, maybe a dozen teams at the most and local. Unfortunately I had missed the season as it ended on November 16th. :-( I am going to be watching for that next season and check it out. What I have seen of the sport on youtube looks very interesting and similar to our baseball but not. LOL! I love sports and am always up for something new. Right now I am watching hockey (which I love) and football (team not doing so great). Oh well, you win some and you lose some, just seems we are losing alot more than we are winning, haha!

Enough of my babbling. hehe!! :-) I love my sports.

I'll be watching your last 2 episodes this month on ABC. I was really impressed with how well Jungle Fury adapted over. I thought it came off pretty solid. I have to admit it started strong and stayed strong for all 32 episodes.

As a fan of both Power Rangers and Sentai, I want to say that you were absolutely great as Dai Shi/Jared and if there's a teamup for Power Rangers RPM, I hope that Jared comes back.

I do have a couple of questions to ask if I may:

1) I'm currently working on a revamped version of an online community which is dedicated to Asian Pop Culture and which has an section dedicated to Power Rangers and Tokusatsu. How would I go about arranging an interview with you for the site if it was possible?
2) I live in the UK and we have an event held twice an year in London called London MCM Expo which actually has quite a few PR cosplayers attending regularly. http://www.londonexpo.com If you ever got invited to the event as a guest by the organisers, would you attend as Dai Shi/Jared is pretty popular amongst the PR fans here.
