Power Rangers - Maybe on The CW's 4kids

Well, since the End of the Power Rangers (again) is near and Disney seems to have no intention on keep it live-action or even keeping it at all.....I thought that maybe another company could be interested in the Power Rangers brand.
After checking out a couple of kids channels and being very surprised by the new Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, I thought that The CW's 4kids may be just the right company, to maybe have intrest in Power Rangers and being able to turn it into a brilliant show again. I wrote them about the situation and asked them to concider the opportunity to buy out PR.

If I am not mistaken, The CW Channel is owned by Time Warner, while the CW 4Kids is a programming space bought from Time Warner by 4Kids Entertainment. So even if 4Kids did buy/produce Power Rangers, I am pretty sure Disney owning Time Warner would not change anything.

Disney lost BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in the acquisition of Fox Family/Saban Entertainment. The only thing out of that merger which has made them any money besides Digimon is Power Rangers. Even canceled, snapping up the residual monetary rights to the franchise is the only way they are ever going to make back the money they lost. Unless you, or an investor, have billions of dollars to spend in CASH, you will never "buy PR up."

Mesh, can somebody please make this a FAQ thing for SPRC? It's infuriating that nobody seems to understand the Saban buyout was the single largest sale to a private individual in human history. In order to entice Disney in this economy, you would have to offer them a lump some of comparable value. One sufficiently huge that even they would blanch at the idea of letting it slip past, given the state of their own finances. The lack of any compensation for Disney from that buyout, save the PR brand -- just putting aside Disney DOES NOT liquidate parts of itself -- is the main reason none of these infantile "we have to SAVE PR" projects will ever work.

If you guys want to run a serious fan campaign to save PR, online petetions are not you're best option. You're better off getting the snail mail address for the Disney officies, whaterver one applies here. Then direct fans to send letters there. Snail mail means a lot more to these people then random emails. At least it would show Disney that we care.

It's infantile because it's being attempted by people with absolutely no comprehension of how television, corporate law, or film production actually work. PR is a television show, it is not a way of life. I say that as the creator of the official convention. When PR ends, my life will go right on along as it always has. I love PR, I owe it a debt of gratitude, but PR is not an extension of my life in its totality. There is no company nor private investor on Earth, save for perhaps Richard Branson, with the liquid assets needed to purchase PR. That is a FACT.

Even if you could find someone who had the money to purchase PR from Disney, you still need to contend with TOEI. None of you "I will buy PR myself and save it and also I wrote scripts for twenty new eps without watching a single episode of the source Sentai" people seem to get this. Toei co-owns PR and always will. Toei has a say on what material is used for it, this is part of why PR TAS didn't materialize. You WILL have to use so much Sentai footage per episode. That's a fact of life. Toei will always be an influence on this series, because Toei makes a great deal of money off it.

As for this whole idea of Power Rangers being the only show that teach kids lessons and help them become good people, that's utter bull. Kids will move on and find other shows to enjoy & learn from. Be it shows on the air right now, or shows that have yet to be created, it's a cycle that will never end. Shows come & go, it's a fact of life. There will never cease to be shows for kids to enjoy. Just because Power Rangers goes away does not mean the world is going to come to an end.

No one's saying you shouldn't want the show to continue. I think you're failing to realize the criticism is based on HOW people are going about it. Aside from that, there's 700 episodes of PR available. Previous seasons are not going to disappear in 2010. Can't you just start them on MMPR?

Adness isn't as big a company as Saban was at the time. They got help from the Japenese side for production money. And there is no guarentee they will make a lot of money of DK. Plus a lot of the Tokusatu rights belong to Disney. Could they produce more Tokusatu shows? Maybe, but I think they are just focused on Kamen Rider right now.

Adness is locked into a contract with Toei via Ishinomori Productions (the actual owners of Kamen Rider). Even if they could entice Tsuburaya into letting them have the Ultraman license for an American adaptation, they are currently distribution partners to Tsuburaya's MAIN COMPETITOR. That is never going to happen. Bandai alone would veto this. Just putting aside Tsuburaya is not going to risk another costly, possibly decades-long court battle after the one over the ownership of the Ultraman franchise in Thailand.

Takara-Tomy? Good luck getting Bandai's chief competitor in Japan to sign off on Rescue Force when you already have a longtime contract and commitment to KR. Once you sew up a contract to Toei, you just invalidated any chance of locking any of the OTHER main production companies of Tokusatsu. These are LONGTIME RIVALS. I don't think people understand just how infuriated Bandai was by Saban licensing the VR Troopers toyline to Hasbro-Kenner!

Taking the series off the air for a number of years until the external market pressures and internal pressures from their production affiliates and partners forces their hand and makes them invest the time, effort, and care PR needs to be successful again is the correct route.

You do realize that the entirety of PR fandom online is one percent of PR's total market base, right? The adult fandom is a drop in the bucket. They mean nothing to Disney. Adult fandom isn't even enough to sustain the entirety of TRANSFORMERS, for god's sake, and their fandom is tremendously larger than this one. Until the infantile quarter of PR fandom grasps just how piddlingly small they are in relation to the target demographic, mail campaigns are never going to work.

Oh yes i do,Because my dad work for Procter and gamble as marketin/tv/radio production In 70's & 80's and no 1 dj in a small town ABC Radio Station in michigan in the 90's as well taught about entertainment business by my father as well a family relative one removed who is contractly own by disney/ABC who used be on growing pains which was owned by ABC/twins cities. So I Know alot More about this than u know, But I Understand.

I'm a hardcore PR fan where I'm from..I've watched tons of seasons with no one to talk about them with(I signed up for the online boards shortly before Mystic Force)...

I can deal with a while off PR.
We HAVE alternatives now.
Kamen Rider+ other series rumoured for North American adaptations..even a Dragon Knight movie in theatres.

As was said in "Road to Corinth", Only Heaven can save us now.

And the raptures scheduled for 2012 so, whatever, I can wait.

Those online petitions barely work..if ever. You'd have a better time putting up RPM grafitti in your city and causing a boost in viral marketing to strengthen the "fan response".

It will be back though.
I've lived over a year in another country..had dial up internet+no PR at all. The return of PR will be sweet though, so just hang in there man.

Look, I think it's best for all of us to just let PR take a nice break from television. Let 'em rethink how to market the product and then see how many old, hardcore Rangerfans and new fans flock to the regenesis.
