Yep, been following it since its release in Japan last December. Can't wait for it to be released this March.

FF13 was the reason that I bought the PS3 when it first came out. The recent trailers have been beautiful, especially the cinematics, damage floaters and the overall UI system.

I was excited, then I started to read more and more. It’s really starting to sound like a big letdown. Previews and reviews have not been good, it’s supposed to be extremely linear and soulless, with no towns and very little NPC interaction....

I am not having much faith at the moment.

Sounds to me like the game is low in the character devolpment. If this is the case, how can you call this a true RPG?

Hang on, no towns, low character development? That doesn't sound like FF at all - it should be a spin-off (sounds a bit like Mystic Quest on SNES actually), not a numbered installment. Personally I think that should've applied to XI and XIV as well, because they're MMORPGs and thus have no character development whatsoever.

The linearity and lack of towns and all that stuff contribute to the story-driven experience rather than game.

I like video game Stories or I would't play FF games. Character Development is always been apart of that. IDK though cus Tails: Dawn of the new world had lower character development compared to the original game and for the most part It was a good game. My main problem with it was the 360 veiw camera. I got the game the day it came out and I still can not get used to fighting with it.

So I guess if the story remains good and the battle system does'nt blow I will enjoy the game. That if I get my XB-360 fixed.

I would call that a lazy excuse on the part of the developers though, I have played plenty of games that have had fantastic engrossing stories that have lasted me hours upon hours and the towns, developing and side development have been there.

I was reading on a CVG interview with the developers the reason they didn’t make towns and detailed NPC’s is it would have been too hard to render in HD! To me that’s the worst excuse, Look at Mass Effect 2, that’s a huge game with loads of mini stories and arcs going on and a much more complicated design, you get what 5 or 6 city/ town like environments.

I feel like final fantasy games have really going downhill as of late, I had so much hope for this one but the more I read of it, user reviews and comments, I just feel like It is graphics over game play and substance.
