Like Digifiend, I wasn't aware that Kate Mulgrew's name was ever associated - or rumored to be associated - with the production of PRDT, although it certainly would've given the PR franchise another dosage of 'mainstream star power' after Paul Freeman's turn as Ivan Ooze in MMPR: The Movie, and would've also made history by making DT the first in-continuity installment in the franchise to feature a big-name, mainstream actress in either a main, recurring, or guest-starring role.

I guess ELA is/was a bigger name than I thought, but since most of his mainstream success came as a result of projects that are of a different genre than PR, I doubt that many 'mainstream' fans were aware of his role in PRTF; such would not be the case had Mulgrew actually had a role, even a minor one, in PRDT. If word had gotten out in the mainstream that Mulgrew was involved with PRDT, even in a guest-starring role, said news would've immediately upped PR's 'mainstream' credibility because of the fact that Mulgrew had been previously associated with Star Trek, one of the most celebrated and recognized Sci-Fi franchises of the last few decades.

What exactly is this Kate Mulgrew rumor? Was it at all credible, and if so what kind of guest role was she supposed to play? I never heard of it before.
