Though since its on Nickelodeon, it'll wind up with multiple airings per week, and therefore multiple numbers to calculate...
I wasn't aware that 1996 was 2 years ago, or that 2002 was last year. Disney had the ENTIRE library of PR and yet no one remembers the show as even being on the air. That IS their responsibility. The Average person only remembers PR as "that big show from the 90s" it's not seban's responsibility to keep people aware of the show once they sold it.
If you ask the average person to expain Star Trek your going to get a incohering mix of TNG, VOY, DS9, and maybe some TOS.
"Thats the show with the robot guy and Professor X right?"
"Yeah i remember Star Trek it had that cool little fighter and they black guy with the weird forwhead."
but with power rangers it's "5 teens with dino powers right? Why are you asking me about some old show from the 90's that isn't on TV anymore."
With some it actually was more of "There was Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers followed by stuff that ruined it for me" followed by the assumption that it had ended at some point in time.
Those numbers i'd say are pretty good being it was up against House
Considering most of the people i talk to are either too young to have seen MMPR or to old to be in the target demongraphic the fact that either group only know about some old show from the 90's says alot about the marketing of past and current seasons. I'm actually kind of curious with all the blitz Samurai has what people will remember for power rangers now
It may say something about the marketing, but again, you can't just blame disney. If you have an adult who only knows of MMPR then that means they were around watching TV in 97, 98, 99, etc...before disney had power rangers and yet they didn't know about it. You can't blame disney just because their old school PR reruns from 2002-whenever didn't catch the attention of the fans anymore than they did when it originally aired under Saban in 97, 98, 99, etc....
Wow that's a bigger number then I thought it would get... The thing Saban should be happy about is the 3.6 on kids 2-11... That's thier target audience..
