Thread: Why do most fans hate Wild Force?

  1. #1
I've put off asking this long enough. As I am getting ready to watch what I think is one of the best seasons of this show.

Why do most fans hate Power Rangers Wild Force?

I think it was a very well done season on both sides of the camera, I mean, you can't even tell that it changed owners, or at least I couldn't, it was seamless for me. It has some great story arcs. not one but two team ups. The way the rangers were tested and actually failed and has their Wild Zords taken from them was epic, that had not happened before. For me if there were as numerical poll I would give this season a perfect 10/10.

It was a direct adaption of Gaoranger

All the Rangers with the possible exception sucked and Cole sucked the worst and wouldn't you know it the show was pretty much ALL about him.

The Green Aesop was heavy handed and it seemed like they were talking down to kids much in the same way Samurai works

    Princess Shayla was annoying.

So many god damn Zord's. (this is just something that personally bugged me I know it's not a common criticism)

Because it's a hollow derivative of Gaoranger that uselessly decompresses some storylines because "that's what Gaoranger did." Honestly, I think Wild Force is superior to Gao (the Master Org storyline absolutely shines), but the whole series could be trimmed down by a third and be much tighter and more enjoyable. The tone of the series is a violent whiplash from a Disneyfied fairy tale to a dark Grimm fairy tale. The intermittent use of an omnicient narrator comes to mind. This show didn't know what it wanted to be, and it suffers for it. It has four near-uniformly beloved episodes and a ton of filler and padding. My god, Sing Song was so bad IT GOT SOMEONE FIRED.

But really aside from Cole saving the day and pimping Bandai's newest toy and the four Wild Force Rangers making a 3 minute cameo. Forever Red must as well have been a generic Power Rangers special and not a Wild Force specific one

And Sing Song got someone fired? Oh wow

I actually don't hate Wild Force!

...However I must admit the only things that kept me watching were the same things that are found in Gaoranger: Toxica, Jindrax, the power animals, the many megazord formations, etc. I never really saw any of the ranger characters as being worth putting on my list of favorite rangers that stood out to me.

Yeah there were a lot of zords, but at least most of the were original, the eagle zord, the shark zord, a deer zord, etc. Do that many ranger fans really watch sentai? I tried too watch Zyuranger and I couldn't get into it, mainly because I had to focus on the bottom of the screen, because I don't understand Japanese, so I would miss most of the show.

I recommend watching an episode of a super sentai series at least twice. Use the first time to focus on the subtitles. That way the second time around you can focus more on the actual episode fotage.

You just had to make a thread like this lol

Wild Force sucked due to the fact:

-Direct adaption of Gaoranger (Which also sucked).
-Barely ANY character development (Cole was a loud goody too shoes, Taylor was a toiugh as nails Air Force person, Max was a kid that bowled, Danny was a softy that tended to flowers and liked a girl, and Alyssa was a college student. This could have been seen in the first 3 episodes)
    -Too many zords
    -Definetly Red Ranger based season
-Shayla was cute, yet annoying as all hell
-There were things that they used that could have been left out since it was only used once: (Max bowling for an example)
-Worst battelizer EVER (Connors was even better)
    -NEVER GIVE UP!
    -Bad acting
-The Claws on the Power Rangers gloves were a not needed thing.
-A Giraffe Zord, in the middle of a lake?

I will stop here. I will say this. Power Rangers Samurai, in my opinion, is WAY BETTER than this stupid crap we call Wild Force

Speaking of Sing Song. This one line gets me every time:
    "Nature don't ever go away"
Wild Force isn't my least favorite seasons, but it definitely had issues. It doesn't help that it falls between fan favorites Time Force, and Ninja Storm.
