Well, its a theory. Personally I can't think of any other reason for that ring; but then we haven't been given much info on that ring and I can't read Japanese, so we're all kind of in the dark. Just thought I'd ask.

yes, i hope so. it's like watching Sentai where MOTD appears in one episode except for two parter eps
