Are you currently playing or have you ever played a MMORPG? Which one(s) have you played? Which one(s) do you like?

Feel free to discuss MMORPGs in this thread.

I've been playing World of Warcraft for close to four years now, exclusively on RP servers because of the more chilled atmosphere and fewer jerks. Here's my main, who's one of the top ret paladins in our guild right now. We're not cutting-edge or anything, but I think we're doing fairly well in terms of raid progress even though the number of active raiders has dropped off significantly in the past year; we're working on Madness of Deathwing now, and it's kicking our butts. A lot.

I've also got a ton of other alts of various other classes and races too. They just haven't seen as much love lately for a variety of reasons (the biggest being annoying technical issues). And while I do have some Horde alts, I mostly play Alliance because that's where all my friends are.

Though really...Cataclysm has been a pretty underwhelming expansion. There's just not a lot to do at endgame that isn't mind-numbingly grindy, and I don't like being led around by the nose with all my quests. Wrath of the Lich King really had a lot more going for it with a wide variety of questing zones and plenty of endgame content too; I think I had more fun during that stretch than I've had since Cata dropped. I've seen a lot of my friends quit the game for now citing lack of interest, and they're biding their time until the next expansion, Mists of Pandaria, comes out. I'm still not entirely sure what to think of that yet, but it's probably too soon to tell since it's not even in beta yet.

But since the end of last month, I've also gotten into Star Wars: The Old Republic as well, even though I'm what you'd otherwise consider a casual Star Wars fan. Already with my two characters, a Jedi Knight and a bounty hunter, I've found it a lot more engaging and immersive than what WoW has become. I'm still starting out, though, so I haven't seen as much of what's out there as I have with WoW, but it's still holding my interest a lot more lately. Now if only it wasn't being such a pain graphics-wise...

Those are the only two MMOs I've played so far, though. I've had a copy of City of Heroes sitting around for a handful of years (found it for really cheap), but I just haven't done anything with it, even though it's since gone free-to-play. Between WoW, SW:TOR, work, and all my various other hobbies and interests, I've got enough on my plate already.

I don't specifically play MMORPGs, but I have started getting into the MMO realm with Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer (the demo version as of now).

    I haven't touched a MMORPG in 3 years.

World of Warcraft - Played for a day. It wasn't for me. I didn't like the overall user interface.

City of Heroes - Played for a year. The game concept was beautiful and addictive, but got repetitive.

Guild Wars - Played for 3 years. This was my favorite MMORPG. The "no monthly charge" concept made it fun to take a break and pick up any time. The gameplay was fun and easy to learn. I'll probably get back into it when Guild Wars 2 comes out.

Final Fantasy - I've been tempting on playing this one.

The last game I played was DCUO on the PS3. In 2009 I attempted to play Wizard 101 but the gaming experience was too kiddish. When I attempted to play League Of Legends on PC. I just didn't enjoy it and it wasn't what I expected. Now recently last year, I played so many RPG based games that it is hard to tell from the good and bad.

Guild wars - my favorite of all them. played almost daily from october 06-winter for 09. The heroes killed team game play though. recently they increased the allowed amount of heroes on a team to 7. I play MMORPGs to meet new people and play with others. Being able to use more then two upgradable NPCs on a team was a big mistake. I can't forgive anet for this.

City of heroes - played off and on over the many years since it's release. During moving I lost exe to my original account and now have a newish one. Much further along on my second/main account. Thanks to GW, I learned how to play MMOs properly. Sadly the freedom/hybrid model is failing this online rpg. Paragon Studios won't admit to it, but they have been losing more members lately then gaining new ones. It's not just one issue with the game and account rewards but many varying things. I believe this could of been avoided if they would of left COH/V alone and started a hybrid model with a City of Heroes/Villains 2 game, instead of trying to turn COH/V into a new game.

Star Wars: old republic - no comment

DCUO - not enough players. lack of team-ship thanks to a floude chat system. Plus dlc and cheats can easily be used w/o getting banned on the ps3 version. I have not tryed the pc version. I also think we who bought the game got a raw deal. We should of gotten 4 months of premium or 4 packs of dlc for free when the hybrid model came. It wasn't like it came in years after the game was released, but very early on.

There is a pre-purchase (not to be confused with pre-order) bonus.
