Yeah, GB can't catch up with America and China. However, if you work out the population of the countries divided by the number of their medals, GB would be on top. Essentially, America and China are doing better because they have a larger talent pool.

Oh, this is SO funny! Usain Bolt wants to become a soccer player when he retires from athletics, and wants a trial at Manchester United!

Epic fail from the Daily Express and Daily Mirror. They both used a picture of the Dutch dressage team when they should've used a picture of Team GB's.

only GB raises the european flag high in these olympics. China and USA are taking everything. But they are billions. It's natural. I was expecting we would fail so much

But GB has the largest collection of athletes at the games with 550. America has the second largest with 528 and China comes in third with just over 300 athletes. So I don't think Quantity is the problem

No, it's quality. America and China have more to choose from, so although they sent less athletes, the people they send are often better than ours. Like I said, larger talent pool. A lot of our guys wouldn't make the Chinese or American squads.

Is anyone in the US having trouble watching programming from NBC? I don't watch a whole lot of TV so I'm mostly reliant on the web to see clips of stuff. It doesn't help that the network has a 6 hour delay on what's happening, but I go to the Olympics website to try and watch clips of the Taekwondo competition and when I click through to see the clip I get a blank page with no video feed or anything. :/

Speaking of taekwondo, I don't care what they say, Muhammad's bronze does not justify his selection. The guy who got the gold, rejected Aaron Cook had already beaten in a previous competition. Therefore, he was definitely capable of getting the gold.

    Final medal table
Rank NOC Gold Silver Bronze Total
    1 United States (USA) 46 29 29 104
    2 China (CHN) 38 27 22 87
    3 Great Britain (GBR) 29 17 19 65
    4 Russia (RUS) 24 25 33 82
    5 South Korea (KOR) 13 8 7 28

I am very happy that our friends from Cyprus finally got their first medal ever
Pity the olympics finished. Damn how fast time passed. I hope our goverment will organise the sports development from on. It was shame on them what all athlets passed through these years. It's a mericle the most of them made it to even be on olympics. Totally on their own. None support...
James have your ever won so many medals? I ask because also when we were hosters we broke our record to our number as well in 2004. I wish we never had taken those olympics. They destroyed our economy with all those thiefs that ate the money. Here we are now...
