I think meeting and getting Great Powers from past sentai was a great idea, but one that wasn't executed quite as well for every series. I think the series that received a two-part story arc were the best ones, such as Hurricaneger, Shinkenger, and Ohranger. Then there are lackluster ones like Gekiranger, Magiranger, and Gaoranger. Some of my favorites are Jetman (Gai rules), Carranger, and Dekaranger.

My biggest problem was that sure, it gave characters development (Magi, Geki) by getting the Great Powers, but it didn't make sense. Doc and Marvelous obtain the Magi power, so why can everyone use it when those two proved themselves? I'd much rather have had everyone need to prove themselves in some way or another. In that regard I think more episodes (or less non-tribute episodes) would have worked better, or get more alumni to appear if possible. Like, while Doc and Marv go after Kai, another Magiranger appears and ends up with the others to help them, or something along those lines. But budget...

It was cool, but I agree with FieryRed. Some weren't executed very well.

bit of a let down for many of the non-two parters like many said. i felt like GoPink's episode was one of the only redeeming solo cameo's in my opinion despite the Greater Power being a bit of a flop to me.

I really liked the concept itself, but I wonder about it. According to that interview that was translated here a while ago, the original plan was to have only a few tribute episodes, but then the earthquake happened and suddenly a whole bunch of past actors wanted to be in the show. 199 Heroes and Vs Gavan would have had to be planned from the beginning as well. So, if the show had stuck to the original idea and had far fewer tributes, how were they planning for the Gokaigers to get the powers of the remaining teams?

Since a good fistful of those tributes wouldn't have happened if not because of chance, I'm willing to let it slide (most of the tributes, not the toyetic ones, were on the fly).

Basco would've stolen more than five, so they'd have just got most of them when he was defeated.
