I was pretty young but I perfectly understood that the movie had different suits/command center etc, because it was a Movie and had money the show didn't have. I mean this happens in other movies based on shows and no one ever questions it. I loved the movie and I still do, and I think it's a much better and feels more like Power Rangers than the canon Turbo movie.

I hated they ignored the continuity of the movie in the series and found the Ninja Quest fairly mediocre as a kid. Kind of a waste to have such an epic adventure completely ignored. Only thing I don't understand is why they made the MMPR movie a sequel of sorts of MMPR and show them get new powers. They could've done either a reboot or just have an adventure that wasn't them getting the Ninja powers, have them just use their regular powers or new original powers created for the movie, why use the Kakuranger zords and Tengus and Ninja suit ideas from MMPRs3 if it wasn't meant to be canon?

Not sure how MMPR:TM felt more like Power Rangers than the Turbo movie. The Turbo movie at least kept the Ranger's thin personalities intact. MMPR:TM made the Rangers even more bland and lifeless than the show (an amazing feat in and of itself) Billy wasn't the smart guy he was just...another Ranger. With the exception of a passing conversation with Tommy and Fred at the end, the martial arts aspect is gone and replaced by EXTREME SPORTS! Kimberly is made into useless luggage (this being the girl who has destroyed monsters single-handedly) who's job is to get captured and scream for Help. And no mention of her gymnastics skills is made. Bulk and Skull barely exist. Ernie isn't there. The villains that make Power Rangers are ditched for a new villain (and true Turbo did the same but at least the villain stayed for the series proper)

They had to ignore the continuity of the movie. As Fox Kids/Saban didn't own the rights to the Movie.

And I imagine the movie featured the KakuRanger mecha so they could advertise the toys sooner for Bandai.

^ I agree with all of that. I can only imagine that the first movie would've been better if there wasn't so many production problems (ie. using rat suits first instead of the ooze men, having to reshoot films because of the visors) which also makes me come back to the thought process of "I wonder how the movie would've been if Jason, Zack, and Trini were still there. That being said, the Turbo Movie, to me, worked well as it felt like an extended episode.

It was a film written by people who openly admitted they didn't like and didn't watch the show. Why should they be beholden to that crap?

^ It's not so much of that as that we already have a way in which the Power Rangers got their powers (the "Ninja Quest" saga). In my opinion and with respect, making it canon would be utterly stupid.

What I don't get is when fanfic writers try to insert the movie into canon alongside Ninja Quest, and you end up somehow seeing Dulcea and Ninjor in the same universe (I find a lot of people like to make them related for some bizarre reason). Or the author says their story uses "movie canon" (i.e. Ivan Ooze, Dulcea, Ninjetti instead of Ninja Powers, etc.) but somehow still makes references to the TV canon that replaced those. You can't have it both ways; it has to be one or the other, or it simply doesn't make any sense.

I agree. MMPR:TM wasn't ment to be in cannon with the series. It was written and produced by a different production team on a different continent. I mean, even Zedd and Rita look like GUEST CHARACTERS.

The movie used armor. RPM used spandex. I don't see it. Plus the Rangers were given Godlike Powers in the Movie. The events of the RPM couldn't even happen.
