As originally reported on The Mount on 1560am and in a press release issued today, Legacy Fighting Championship has announced that they are allowing fans to get involved in the action by allowing them to help decide the next opponent for controversial MMA fighter Jason Frank.

    Jason David Frank

Since Frank’s arrival on the MMA scene back in January of 2010, the forums and websites have been buzzing about his opponents. Franks fans have contended that Frank has fought talent at or near his own record, while hard-core MMA fans have questioned the MMA aptitude of some of his adversaries.

All the talk has lead to Legacy giving both sides a chance to have a say in who Frank fights next. Frank has agreed to allow the fans to vote on 5 opponents that they would like to see him fight. Once the final five have been decided Legacy matchmaker Collin Cantrell will figure out who he thinks would be the best match-up for Frank.

Frank is on board with the idea and is looking to prove to his fans and his doubters that he has what it takes to climb the ladder as a professional MMA fighter. The official release is below.

LEGACY FIGHTS WILL LET FANS PICK POWER RANGER’S NEXT OPPONENT
Legacy Fighting Championship to Host Fight on July Card

Jason David Frank, former Power Ranger, has agreed to let fans pick his opponent for his next fight with Legacy Fights. Frank has accumulated perfect record as an amateur and started off his career with a win as a pro. Amid criticism and controversy, Frank has taken his mma career in a new direction under Tony Orozco and the Silverback fight team. “Jason wants to be treated like any other fighter. Frank wanted to fight whoever we put him up against…” stated matchmaker Collin Cantrell about Frank’s new direction. “I felt like it would be fun to let the fans decide his opponent. I also think this says a lot about his attitude right now. I am going to make sure the fight is fair for both Jason and his opponent, so I am only going to consider pro fighters in the middleweight division with 3 or less pro fights. I am opening up to the entire country for candidates. Anyone interested in fighting Jason should email me their bio at collin@legacyfights.tv. Fighters should include their full name, height, weight, fight school, record and contact information in their email. We will announce the final five candidates at our April 9th event in the Arena Theater. We will open up a link on www.legacyfights.tv for fans to choose who they want to fight Jason. We will announce the fighter with the most votes on May 14th at our event scheduled for May 14th in the Arena Theater.”

Yes...it's all for publicity. No one is making a secret of that. Jason has always said that he'll fight until it's not fun anymore, so this should keep some humor in it for him. He's really enjoying training with his new coach, Tony at Silverback, and is ready to take on anybody so this should be interesting!

    Simple, he's dropping to middleweight.

LOL@him ready to take on anybody. Anybody who looks like they never trained a day in their life and look like they just got off the sofa you mean. Then he has the nerve to say in that letter that he wants to be taken seriously. Fighting actual fighters that actually train and have a decent record will make fans take him seriously. Otherwise he's just a joke.

LOL. Now Legacy Fighting has a an application form where anybody can apply to fight JDF. I'm guessing the wrong guy won that poll [ie. Somebody who can actually beat JDF] and they've reached this level of desperation.

After weeks of speculation, debate and even some heated discussion, Legacy has finally revealed the five fighters that are in line for a fight with Jason David Frank.
As previously mentioned when we first reported the story, Frank has been a lightning rod of controversy since he burst onto the Houston MMA scene back in January 2010. Some have questioned his motivations, others have questioned his opponents, but those in the know have never questioned his stand up. The Karate Hall of Fame member has trained Muay Thai with the likes of Master Toddy out in Las Vegas as well as many respected trainers here in Texas, including his recent move to Silverback where he trains under Tony Orozco.

All of the controversy has lead Legacy to agree to put Frank on a card, if he would let the fans pick his next opponent. He did, and here we are. Below are the five finalist that Mick Maynard, Collin Cantrel and crew have chosen. It’s up to the fans now to pick who they want to see step into the cage and battle Frank.
Go check out the finalist list on http://thecagedoor.net!

When you're ready, head on over to http://legacyfights.tv to cast your vote. Free sign up required.
