I am using MS Paint. There's a faster way you say?

Yes, a much faster way. Make sure you have color pallets of both colors (the one you are changing from, and the one you are changing to) visible somewhere to make it much easier on yourself. It's all about the two colored squares at the bottom near your colors. I may not be the best at explaining things, but here it goes.

1)First off, make sure you have the transparency set. When you go to the 'Select" tool (the dotted box at the top) you should get a graphic below that has practically the same shapes. However, the bottom is the transparent setting, and you need to select that.
2)Second, use your eyedropper tool to select a color. This color will go to the top square of the two.
3)Go over to these squares, and click on either the top or bottom one. This should switch them up so that the color you had selected is now on the bottom of the two squares.
4)Use your eyedropper tool again to select the color you want to change your image too. This color will now be the one on the top of the two squares, again, on top of the first selected color.
5)Use the rectangular shape (easiest, but any will do) and make a large shape somewhere in your picture away from the image you are recoloring. Make sure this shape is larger than the image you are attempting to recolor.
6)Now, here's where the transparent setting comes in. Check to make sure it is still engaged, and select your image you want to recolor. Select around the image to make sure there is some empty white space.
7)Finally, move the entire selection over to the colored shape you've made with the second color. You will see that your original selected color will change to the second as you move the image over. Once the whole image is ontop of the colored shape, you have now recolored an entire color in no time.

Then you just repeat the steps with the tones/shades of colors in a template. It really is a much simpler and easier way once you get the hang of it. And it doesn't take long to master this aspect of MS Paint.


So say for example, you're turning a red helmet into a blue one.

1) Have your red and blue color pallets out, along with the red helmet. Make sure your transparency setting is on.
2) Use your eyedropper tool to select the first (let's say outermost/darkest) shade of red on the color pallet.
3) Go to the squares in the bottom corner and click them so that this red tone is now on the bottom of the two.
4) Select the first/darkest tone of blue from the color pallet.
5) Make a rectangular shape with this blue that is much larger than the helmet you are going to recolor.
6) Select your helmet, making sure there is some white space around it.
7) Move the selected helmet onto the blue rectangle you have made. The darkest/outermost red will now become the darkest tone of blue from the color pallet.

Repeat the process for the other shades in the color pallets. Make sure you select the same shade from each to change. Also, if you made your first shape large enough, you can then use the fill tool rather than making rectangular shapes over and over. Like this:
1) Your first shade has been recolored. Move to the next shade of each color, selecting the next red and putting it on the bottom of the two squares and the next blue, making sure it is on the top of the two.
2) With the fill tool, color in the remainder of the (hopefully) large shape you created for the first recolored shade. This will now change to the lighter shade of blue.
3) Select your helmet again, making sure there is space around it.
4) Move the helmet onto the lighter shaded shape. Now the next tone, moving inwards, will be recolored.

Then just repeat it that way. Once you are done, you can just select the white color at the bottom, switch it to the bottom of the two squares, and everything will be kosher and no more recoloring. I hope those instructions made sense. It really is a much easier method and saves a lot of time for you. Try it out a couple times with stuff to get the hang of it, then you'll be sold on it. My newest. Wish I knew how long it actually took, but I've been tackling this here and there. As much as I love the Dairanger helmets, doing the details SUCKS! Especially Yellow's. None of them look as perfect as I want them to be (canon quality) but at least the work is my own, which I'm proud of. The bases, the colors, the mouthpieces and the jewels belong to Acatl. Everything else is mine. No touching without my permission.

My DT pixel project isn't done yet (still some things I need to figure out), but I created this:



His costume is Liveman meets MMPR White (KibaRanger) meets the Ninja Storm Green Samurai Ranger (Shurikenger).

When he takes off his vest, in that way he's like the NS Green Samurai Ranger.

Bases and colors by Acatl, the rest is all me.

The last time I made a silver Titanus Ranger....I kinda liked the look, tbh. In case you forgot about my last one, it's on page 28. So....yeah. Without further ado, here's the Silver Titanus Dino Rescue Ranger. Enjoy. All work is mine except for the basic template, the colors, and the chest shield (which is a modified MMPR White Ranger vest). No touching without permission.
